Help, this is going to sound silly to some of you but i cant work out how to save my music to my memory card in my n95, i have my messages and photos but not my music

PLEASE can some1 help me with this simple request.

The simplest way: Just copy the music files (e.g., *.mp3 files) to the phone and in the music player on the phone, choose to refresh the music library.

Other than that. you can use PC Suite's Nokia Music Manager (Transfer music feature), Nokia's Music client or Windows Media Player.

thanx but i want to set the phone to save all music to memory card, for exmaple when it is bluetoothed to me

Just open the file in inbox and then select back then it will prompt you to save the file. It will be save in attachments in memory card.

surely their must be a way to save all music to the memory card, it can be done with photos and messaging so why not music files

Files that arrive via bluetooth are handled as messages and therefore end up in your messaging inbox.

What you have to do is open the message containing the file you want to store. If it's a music file then the music player will start playing it. Press the "stop" button, exit the music player, and you will be told that the piece of music was not saved. Confirm that you do want to save it and then navigate to the location on the memory card where you want to save it.

Don't forget to delete the "message" from your inbox when you're done as it will take up a lot of space in your phone's C: drive.

If you want the music to go directly to the memory card without going through the convoluted steps described above then bluetooth is not the method you need to use. It's also very slow for that matter.

The N95 comes with a miniUSB cable, you should use that. And even if you've lost yours, just about any standard miniUSB cable will do. When you plug the phone in, you will be asked what mode you want the phone to work in. Select "mass storage". Your phone's memory card will then appear under "My Computer" (assuming you're using Windows) as a removable drive. You can then simply drag'n'drop or copy/paste files directly onto it.

Alternatively, you can invest in a small USB card reader. Remove the card from the phone, put it in the card reader, plug the card reader into a free USB port and the card will appear as above, as a removeable drive onto which you can drag'n'drop or copy/paste files, but it'll be significantly faster than using the phone's USB connection.

thank you, my n95 saves bluetooth music files automatically to my memory card as does my drag and drop thro pc suite, however my friends doesnt on both occasions it saves to phone memory and even if phone memory is full it doesnt give the option to save to the memory card

If you're sent music tracks over Bluetooth, then they end up in the Inbox of the Messaging application.

You can't have them sent directly to the memory card, except by changing the "Memory in use" setting to the memory card.

And then you still have to open the message from the Inbox, and then save it (to the Gallery) and after that delete the message from the Inbox.

Otherwise, you can use Nokia PC Suite also over Bluetooth and use it to copy the files directly to the memory card, instead.

As Petrib told,

Messaging > Options > Settings > Other > Memory in use > Memory card (instead of Phone memory) .

This will change your inbox memory to memory card instead of the phone memory. But still, what you receive via bluetooth will end up in your inbox, but it will be in your memory card and not the phone memory.

their is no need to be rude, none of the above answers answer my problem. i have my messages going to memory card as i have already stated.

when i drag and drop music via pc suite it saves music to my memory card.  when i do the same with my mates phone it saves it to phone memory.

as stated i no where and how to change where my photos and messages are saved but can not find how to change where my music is saved to, my friend wants her music drag and dropped to her memory card not the fone memory

There is a setting in PC Suite (don't ask me exactly what, I haven't infected my PCs with Windows and therefore cannot use PC Suite) whereby files copied this way land on the memory card, not in the phone's memory.

Alternatively, as already mentioned at least once, hence my comment, forget altogether about PC Suite and connect the phone in mass storage mode. It appears in "My Computer" as a removable drive giving you direct access to the memory card where you can drag'n'drop or copy/paste music. The only downside is that you have to refresh the music player's library. Then again, if the music player is active when you connect the phone in mass storage mode, it detects this and asks you if you want to refresh the library anyway.

Btw... if you use your memory card as a message storage, you won't be able to connect to your phone thru 'data transfer'.

Are you talking about saving music to the memory card when bluetoothed to you or when sending it via the USB cable?

I dont think that its possible for the music to go directly to your music folders without going to your inbox when receiving it via bluetooth.

When tranfering via USB, connect in Mass storage mode and copy paste the entire music that you want in whichever folder you want to.
