N95 - A random number on my home screen

Whenever I go back to my 'home' screen, I get a number '01708' appear in the top right hand corner for about a second. This occurs with all phone themes and whilst it doesn't seem to affect the phone in any way, it is very irritating. I have tried software reinstalls & formatting my memory but it has had no effect. Any ideas on what it is causing this and how to get rid of it?

Thanks

It sounds like you have cell info enabled.

Try this:

Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Network > Cell Info Display - Set to Off.

You are welcome :smileyhappy:

I just recognised it as a UK area code. Romford area I believe? :smileyhappy:

lol, close enough. I thought it was just a coincidence. How could the phone know where I was... :0

It's a feature left over from the old days. On some of the early contracts you used to get local calls for free.

The cell info tells you the area code of the cell you were using so that you could see if you were in your local area or not.

I can't think of a practical use for it in the UK any more.
