I had a n91 4gb a year back and used it only for 2 months.as after that it gave hdd problems. now i have the n91 8gb and was wondering if it had to fall from my hand would it give hdd probs. like hanging??

The 2 versions both have accelerometers built in that, in theory, detect the phone being dropped even before it hits the floor. This allows the phone time to "park" the disk heads before they hit the platter! However, depending on the severity of the "knock" damage may still occur. These tiny hard disks are not as well proven as most pc hardisks so we may well see that failures are not always associated with drop damage anyway. ALL phones are quite sensitve and will not tolerate repeated dropping as there are quite afew delicat components on board. You should see the state of a lot of the phones I see in for repair, I really don't kow how people can treat them like they do!

it once fallen form my hand it did not give any pain despite of its crashing in FWs lol.

i had a n80 which got run over by a car, fallen from a building(2 floor). fell in water and fallen 100s of times. but still survived.

Now that is N80 and I love this phone for its slide and size. I dont want an internal GPS as in N95 as I don't want to place my phone at positions far from me to get GPS signals; Better to have a separate bluetooth GPS for that purpose. Other peculiar uses remains incidental.
But I do miss the faster processor and nitro boosted graphics card as in N93.

Interesting.. I did not know that the Nokia N91s has accelerometer built in. I love this feature which I miss in Nokia N80 or should be there in Nokia N95. this will help in playing some games where you dont need to bust the keys even systems like the Nokia 5500 3D sensor.. wow..
Recently, I watched a youtube video where an IBM hack allowed using the IBM laptop accelerometer, used for hard disk safety purpose only, to play games by moving the whole laptop !!! this wont be feasible unless you are a gym freak but it is possible to do the same on a mobile phone .. hehe.. of course with delayed response

On the topic, I also had the N91 4GB and then changed it to the 8 GB.

I dropped the 4GB version a number of times (like 10 or so) onto different surfaces and never had any problems with the HDD. So far I've only dropped the 8GB once (fell off my pocket) and no problems.
