Re: N86 Language change

Does it have chineese by default, or have you done something funny within settings?

You bought it recently? What language do you want for it. I have never owned a N86, but if someone here has - they could guide you to changing it by telling you what icons - steps you shall make. Does it have any other languages?

A Nokia carepoint should be able to install another languagepack on your device, if china don't have any wierd policy on that. Where do you live?

Re: N86 Language change

I actually got it today.  I have no idea if it has any other language, I can understand a word!!

I live in Cyprus but English would be fine.

If anyone can guide me step by step I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Re: N86 Language change

If you got it today, you could do a soft reset dialling *#7370# as this will delete anything on your phonememory as contacts, messages etc - you should connect to pc suite and back up first.

after the soft reset - the telefone should be as out of box and start the wizard like this: http://www.symbian-guru.com/welcome/2009/07/the-nokia-n86s-welcome-wizard-simplifies-setup-for-new-u...

but first, can you try to acces the wizard within menus? But i don't know if it has other languages, but if - you should be able to choose within the wizard.

Sorry I can't find the wizard.

I don't recognize the icon.

Can you tell me how I can find it?

Hit the menu key.

Choose the "Tools" folder (the one with a wrench on the folder icon).

Choose the "Settings" app (the one with a wrench icon).

Choose the "Gemeral" option (first icon on the list, with picture of a phone).

Choose "Personalisation" (with the blue and yellow mask icon).

Scroll to the fifth option, "Languages".

The first entry there is "Phone language".
If you cannot figure it out, try a soft reset and see if the phone has another language set by default. By turning it on after a soft reset - the phone should start the wizard automaticly like you see in the video.  Now, if it turns out that there is no other language to choose from - you will need to take it to a Nokia care point, and the could install a languagepack and help out. - It might cost a little, but at least you should ask.
