I am having some difficulty trying to change the plug-ins on the home screen, ie not being able to customise what is displayed on the screen.
I used to have a Nokia E71, and that had a facility for doing so. I also searched the helped section on the N86, by typing 'home screen' in the search box on the phone, it came up with an answer. This answer suggests you open 'modes' on the phone. When I click on modes in the help section it goes straight back to the home screen. It looks as though there is no 'modes' facility on the phone, despite the help section suggesting otherwise.
So my question is can I configure my home screen like I used to be able to on the E71? Also, is modes meant to be on the phone? If so is the software faulty? How can I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

you can go to :
tools- settings-general- personalization-standby mode- shortcuts
now this is a n series so the home screen will not be like the one you had on your e71 but this will help you chose more or less of what you might want. give this a go and see

Nokia is better with owners of E-series phones. I do not understand.

If you chose the "vertical icon bar" theme from the Standby Theme options there is a WLAN scanning option.

Only on Vertical. You can add WLAN on the horizontal shortcuts as well..
