N86 8MP registers photo and video times in GMT.

[ Edited ]

My N86 has the latest firmware 30.009.

I have set the phone to automatically update its date/time from the network.  I have set the photo and video cameras to title the photos/movies, as they are taken, with the date.  The phone does start the name of each photos/video with the data, for example, today the names start with 08112010xxx.

However, there is a problem with the registered time for when the photo was taken or the video was recorded.

As for photos, if I look at the properties of the .jpg files using the Mac OS X Finder (the file system), or if I open the Preview application, it shows an incorrect time of 8/11/10 7:48:32.  But, if I open the photo in Picasa or PhotoShop the correct photo time appears, at 8/11/10 12:48:29 p.m., HOWEVER, it is also shows a modification time of 8/11/10 7:48:32 p.m..  Just a note: 8/11/10 7:48:32 p.m. is 7 hours in the future.

As for videos, when I look at the "details" for the .mp4 movies in the gallery or if I look at the file "properties" in other applications such as FinalCut or VLC, the time of the start/finish does not corresponds with the actual time of their recording, but instead like the photos seems to correspond to the mysterious "modified" time that is 7 hours in the future  I would have attached and example but .mp4 extension is not allowed by the Nokia discussion board.

I tried to see whether how the phone sets its own time and date might effect the recorded start/finish of a photo/video.  First, I tried setting the phone to get its date and time automatically from the network.  Next, I tried setting the phone to manually set the time.  Still the problem continues.

This occurs whether I look at the properties of the files on the phone or after downloading onto a PC.

I have a feeling that correct creation time is using the local clock.  However, this modified time is using GMT which is 7 hours ahead of my current time.

I think this must be a bug.  Has anybody else experienced this?  If so, what is the solution?
