My main issues with this stupid stupid phone are...
If I have a phone number stored in international format (+61), I can get messages in the contact's name, but it will just come up the number when they call... If I switch it & just put in the number normally (0405 etc), their name will come up when they call, but just the number when they sms..... Which is REALLY annoying.. I've tried so many different things, deleting them all and putting them all back in, checking to see if there are duplicates (sim, memory card, phone...) NONE...
The other problem I'm having is with bluetooth with my car handsfree. I have a Toyota Yaris. Basically, it is connected, not a problem, although it did take some time... If I leave my bluetooth on when I leave the car, when I get back into the car, it will not automatically connect.. I have to turn off my bluetooth before I leave the car, then turn it back on when I get into the car.. ANNOYING!!!
Anyone else have this problem?
I'm not having the same as everyone else.. The battery I have noticed, like some others, is on full, or just under, and then it just drops down to one bar..
How can they charge so much for these phones when there are so many problems???

Hi Lizzy,
Don't fret, there is a solution to this problem. Please follow the link to the thread below, and go to my post on the 10-Feb for the answer:
/discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&me
Basically, you will need to bring your very best diplomacy skill to the Nokia Care Centre, and prey for the person that sees you to understand what you are trying to tell them. Go prepared, print this post off, and insists as nicely as you can for the solution.
Good luck, let me know how you go...

Thanks for that Travla, I will have to go to the one in Melbourne when I have the time... ARGH this has been driving me crazy! I will let you know of the outcome.
What annoyed me is that the guy on the Nokia Care Line told me that this is a new problem and they haven't heard of it before.... Basically he was telling me that I was a liar with everything I was telling him!!!

I maybe be very lucky, but so far I have had no problem with my n85, that is until today. It was working fine this morning, but now when I ring someone or vice versa there is no sound. They can hear me but I can't hear them. That is until I put it on speakerphone. But obviously this is not the most practical solution. Please help cos that phone is my lifeline!! Thank you!!

Hi niki08,
This is (unfortunately) a common issue. Check out this existing thread:
/discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&me
There are a few other posts on this issue as well (including in this thread) that you may want to read through. Just do a discussion search on "n85 earpiece" and you'll get some good hits.

Issue: N85 Log shows a mobile icon for every call, even telephone nos in contacts
Man, the N85 is plagued with a hell lot of bugs!! I just noticed this one today.
If this bug exists in your phone too, please drop a post and let nokia know.
Even if you save a number in a contact as a telephone number, if you call up that number and then check the log, all the calls display a mobile icon, instead of a telephone icon for telephone numbers.
FW v.11
Moderator's note: Subject changed.
Message Edited by concordia on 21-Dec-2008 04:45 AMI have the exact problem!!! It makes it so confusing & sometimes make me call wrong numbers!!!
& there is something more, while sending a message, there is no option to change message center for a particular message...
Hey all, I've been using my N85 for four months now. Updated it to the latest firmware which is the 11.047 version. And yet, I still have the same problem eienkei and alsiladka has which is the call log issue. Most of my contacts has more than one number under it (for example, under John I would have John (Mobile), John (Home) etc.) but when I go to my call log all I see are Mobile icons. This makes it very confusing and always result in me dialling the wrong number.
Note this only happens in the call log and not when dialling or receiving calls (when dialling or receiving calls, the icons displayed are correct)
Anyone else here faces this problem? I have googled and searched for forums and posts that might solve this problem but it seems to me that this particular issue is rarely discussed if at all.
I hope there is a solution to this as I didn't have this sort of problem when using my previous phone from Sony Ericsson. I do not believe that such a trivial issue is beyond solving. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance =)

Good call kehn, I also have this problem and as you said haven't been making a big deal over it. But, as I have slowly irorned out other issues/concerns I've had with my handset, this is becoming quite a nuisance.Interestingly, VOIP calls do show a different icon, so it seems the problem is only occuring for cellular calls.
May I suggest that you lodge a formal support request with Nokia in your own country. Just go to your contry's Nokia website and click, Get Support and Software, then click on Contact Us under the Nokia Care Services box. I'm going to do it myself now.

I have this same issue as well, and i do agree it's very inconvenient as I end up dialing the wrong number at times due to having a few numbers stored under a single contact.
I have yet to try VOIP, so I cannot comment if my problem is only isolated to 2G & 3G calls.
The thing is I did highlight this issue to Nokia Care when I first sent my phone in. I managed to get a phone replacement but the new phone came with this same issue which makes me wonder if its really a bug or is this just the way it is with Nokia symbian phones?
My old N95 also had this same issue.
Do update if you get a response from Nokia? Thanks!

I didn't realise that this wasn't an isolated problem, I thought it only affected FP2 phones (e.g. N79/N85/N96 etc.). My previous phone was an N80ie, and it did not have this problem.
I've lodged a support e-mail with Nokia, I will advise on their response once I hear back from them.
Cheers,
travla

I lodged a support request with Nokia online on the 4th of March, with a promise to get back to me within 48 hours.
It was in regards to the whole contacts showing for incoming calls but not for SMS messages problem.
264 hours later, I'm still yet to receive a response... ![]()

Hey thanks for the speedy response guys. =) Good to know that I'm not facing this issue alone (ok, maybe its not a good thing lol) but anyhows, I guess I will contact Nokia about this and see what they say.
Funny how such a petty little issue/problem can be quite the nuisance at times. And to think that my previous phone had no such problem makes it a little annoying too. But other than this I guess I'm satisfied with the phone quality and performance-wise.
Do get back to me if any of you guys get a response alright?
Cheers

i found a lot of problems after updated firmware V11.047 too.
photos blur and can't enter back, music player can't use,
but if i restarted my N85 it can fix these problems for a moment.
I think the best way, i must wait the new version to fix it

I wish I read this thread before I bought my first Nokia S60 phone. I have it for less than 24 hours and this call logs issue is such basic problem that Nokia shouldn't have released this dumb phone without doing it right.
I have so many contacts that have multiple numbers. I usually dial between their home, work, and cell. With all call logs showing with 'cell phone' icon, it's impossible to dial to them back from logs. Have to always go back to contacts list and that is not easy if you are trying to call someone while driving.
To make it worse these dumb S60 phones also won't show "More Details" for the contact from LOGS. On my old Sony Ericsson W910i or any cheap phone from SE, samsung, and even the iPhone will let you see the contacts additional numbers from logs.
I am going to return the phone even if I have to pay 15% re-stocking fee. These guys will go down the drain if they keep releasing buggy phones. Even their online Ovi contacts is a joke. When I sync my contacts from N85 to Ovi, it only backs up the mobile numbers of my contacts and only 1 e-mail and 1-address and ignores, additional numbers, e-mails and addresses of the contact. Why do they call that as backup?
Sorry for my ranting. I am getting blood pressure knowing a phone I love everything else can't get the basics right.

I have bad feeling, that Nokia is focusing on new 5th Symbian generation (N5800 and newer), and older phones are "put on ice", with all their bugs.
