I have the same problem!

It worked for 1 year and now I can't see the name of my contacts (like the number is present 2 times, but every number is only saved 1 time!).

If I add new contacts, the name appear on the phone. But I have 150 contacts with all info and photo... Please help!

- Factory reset - doesn't help

- Delete all numbers and synchronize again with OVI - doesn't help

- Sent back to Nokia - I got the phone yesterday and the problem is still present

Hi all ... Having experienced this problem on my N86 a while ago, I posted a solution on here but I can't seem to find it now.  Anyway the solution for me was to totally master reset the phone.  Please remember to BACK UP anything you wish to keep on your phone prior to the reset though, as it will delete everything on your phone and reset it back to an as you bought it state.  I still maintain that this problem started for me after a sync on OVI as it has been perfect with no problems since the reset.  I keep away from the syncing nowadays though just in case.

Hope this helps anyone as it was so annoying when it happened to me & there seemed no way to remedy it, I tried absolutely everything, but the reset worked for me.

Thanks for the reply, I can definitively say that OVI-Contacts is a bad service for N85 and N86

I got (from Nokia) a totally master reset. And of course I made a Back Up with Nokia Suite.

The phone was perfect, since i restored the back up (without any synchronisation). After the restore from PCSuite, I am on the same point as before: I can't see the name of the caller

Sorry that a hard reset didn't work for you Tiger54.  I just thought that what worked for me may hopefully work for someone else. Unfortunately I don't have any more ideas to help you with this I'm afraid.  :mansad:

Yuppie!

After 5-6 hours, I got it! I don't know what the problem was, I hope I will never have this problema again...

I resetted my phone 2-3 times, I deleted all contacts 5-6 times. I always restored my backup or I restored the contacts from OVI. Nothing, the name never was there when I called with another phone.

At least, I deleted all phone numbers and I restored the contacts from an old backup (2008). It worked!!!!!!!!!!

After that, I resynchronized with OVI and I got 2 times every contact. I deleted the originals contacts (the one from backup) from the phone and now it works!

Now I am happy and can go to sleep without any nightmares
