N82 browser problem (The most difficult problem ever found)

[ Edited ]
I have my 15 days old N82, It did work very well, I can have hotmail, gmail and yahoo mail with the browser. but recently the browser refuese to work with cookie(especially with secure connection).
When I login hotmail, hotmail report that I haven't turn on cookie, same situation in gmail, and dialog box with "Not supported" shown in Yahoo mail.
I have check the setting in the browser and the cookie is enabled. Java Script enable.
I have also try different combination... e.g. popup, save password/form...

I have try to clear all cache in the browser, and install the Y browser, and discovered some cache files cannot be deleted by the Nokia browser, then I manually clean up the files in the cache folder. But the situation didn't change.

I've also reset the phone to factory setting, didn't help....

And finally flash the firmware (version 20.0.062, which is same as my phone version)...

all didn't work..... :smileysad:

I have phone to Nokia Care, they have no idea with my phone, and they tell me there is no way to do a Hard reset in S60 phone which is very common in S40 device.

any genius can help?

Re: N82 browser problem (The most difficult problem ever found)

Just visit Nokia Care today, After an hour of waiting, I got nothing!

They just tell me to leave the phone for an hour without listen to my speaking. When I got my phone back, they said they have flash the firmware(which I have done and told them already!) and the result is nothing imporved.

And the staff just direct me to another guy, which help people to have correct setting in their phone. After few test, we still fail to login hotmail. And he give up after 30 minutes. And he tell me it is the problem of the websites. I feel dispointed... why he can said all hotmail, yahoo and gmail having problem at the same time.
I accept there is a bug in the Nokia browser, but what he did was blame another...

It is totally a waste of my time...

Re: N82 browser problem (The most difficult problem ever found)

The browser is supporting cookies all right, but it is really a problem caused by the web site. It most likely looks at the HTTP-USER_AGENT variable that the phone's web browser sends, and then the web site decides that it does not recognize the browser (the web site may have written to just recognize PC browser like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc.), and redirects you to an error page that talks about cookies (sometimes badly designed web sites then tell you to install IE, or enable JavaScript - which the browser on the N82 also supports).

Not much that you can do (except ask the web site owners/designers to fix their web site).

But the main point is that I can open all hotmail, gmail and yahoo mail few days ago, suddenly they all fail to work...

And....It is not a big chance for both Hotmail, GMail and Yahoo mail to change their system at the same time.
They are all large company and have enough power to developing such mail system. And GMail will direct mobile phone to mobile version of GMail, which should work with S60 browser.
So phone problem seems to be more reasonable in this situation.

And I have just test these 3 sites with my dad's N80, all sites working fine...

Anybody who can try if your phone working with hotmail, gmail and Yahoo Mail? I think many of you are using it every day...

Re: N82 browser problem (The most difficult problem ever found)

why don't you try to use a third-party mobile internet browser. several are available on-line, download and try one of them and see if you can access the web sites.

Have you actually looked to see if the browser is set to accept cookies in its settings?

When in the browser:
Options > Settings > Privacy > Cookies > (set to "Allow" )

Same problem here, but from the first day. I connect to the internet through WLAN and try to login to hotmail, and it tells me my browser is set to block coockies, while it isn't.. I had this problem with some other websites too, i think all that require coockies. Also, my settings are correct, I enables coockies. Please someone help!!!!

Format your Memory Card, then hard reset your phone. I hope it will work. Maybe there is something in your memory card. Same problem happened in my N95 8GB. But I apply this method then it became ok. Let me know.

Re: N82 browser problem (The most difficult problem ever found)

I did the hard reset and without insert the memory card, but still not work....

And I found that the problem occured when the browser apply the website background color or format the page...

If I stop the loading before the browser apply bg color. The cookies works well...
To do this, I use the slowest connection(2G GPRS) to load hotmail, when the browser just display the text(without color/format), press stop and any link in hotmail works fine! But it is too difficult to do that with WiFi or 3G connections....
