Hi,i purchased N82 in sept and it was working very fine til the starting of december but now its hanging a lot....sometimes when i press any key and sometimes when its idle also it hangs up and does not register if i press any key what so ever...removing the batt and restarting is the only option..then sometimes it hangs on the white screen itself while restarting....im very tensed...i had saved money for months to buy such an expensive set..please help me with this issue....I updated the software also using the nokia software updater but even that did not help!!

is your firmware up to date? if yes move on to the next point of not update your firmware if possible.


make sure you back up all your data prior to doing things listed below:


*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
*#7370# - Reformat your phone
This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. Turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button.
re-flash - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen.

If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service.

I have read alot about the memory card coming with the phone to be faulty....is there a way to format the micro SD!!

yes you can reformat your card like you would your computer harddrive, when you connect your phone in mass memory via usb, look under my computer and your memory card should show up as another portable harddrive you would reformat as you would any hard drive also you can do so via you phone go to the memory card and under options you can select format memory card.

try the codes tho first and then look at the memory card

I get the same problem with the N82 hanging, except it usually takes place before or after a call.

I've tried reinstalling firmware, reformatting the phone and memory card, and the problem still persists.

Any clues?

To format memory cards with default Nseries phone directory, you can go to Tools>Utilities>Memory>Format Memory Card.

Do back up your personal data first!

Hi,Gave my cell to the Nokia store and they have returned it back sayin they have fixed the problem....Ive started using the phone and its not hanging as of now...but ive not put the memory card back..scared to do so!!

Since I have all my data backed up I was thinking of formatting my cell and memory card now....will that cause any problems!!
