Hi all,
When listening to the Radio, (with Nokia's supllied ear phones), I can here distortion/interference. Has anyone heard this? When i press a key on the phone the noise goes away. I am convinced it's the screen saveer or power save functions thar cause it.

Anyone else had this?

Not noticed that and I've listened to the radio quite a lot. Reception can be pretty poor because the headphone cable is the aerial, of course.

I am quite sure it's not the signal strength, as the radio is crystal clear, but of course I may well be wrong. I can only liken it to a very soft buzzing noise. On for a second or two then off again, rythmical. Mmmm, I will have to try a few things and see what happens. I just thought I should dig out the pop port to 3.5mm headphone socket adapter and try that. Obvious really, should have done it sooner - DOH!!! Cheers! Dave

Tried what I said above - it did not work. I'm still having the same noise occur when the date and time screen saver thingy kicks in...

Hi!

I'm having the same problem. Some sort of interference every 5 second or so when the screen saver pops up.
Its super anoying! But I think its dependent of something else too, because I don't get it every time...

Yep, that be it! I'm hoping somebody can help, or maybe the next firmware can help...

Yes, I have the same problem. Very annoying as the radio is otherwise very good. (As is mp3 playback.)

Has anyone updated the firmware and noticed an improvement?

I have version 4.0623.0.41 RM-92 N80 (03)


Still these noises when in power save mode. I left my phone to a NCC where they kept it for a week to investigate this among other problems, but after firmware upgrade to v4 the problem persists, so I was without a phone for a week and the problem persists... Only thing added to phone was v4 and some bend marks under the battery cover.
I will try another N80 this weekend to see if it's a common fault on N80.

I am getting exactly the same problem. It is undoubtedly when the screensaver kicks in. This is how the Nokia Helpline answered my query:
With regard to your email concerning the Nokia N80 handset, if this issue is recent occurance a reset of the phone may fix it. This will though wipe all data on the internal memory. To do the reset type *#7370# on the standby screen.

If this is not succesful please take the phone to your nearest Nokia Service Point for repair. They will assess if a repair is required and if this may be covered under the warranty.

I see that others have already tried the Nokia Service Point with no success. Can you trun off or delay the screensaver?
