I somehow don't think the main problem is the battery, but rather runaway applications that drain the battery.

Yesterday I had had the phone on standby for about 1.5 days, and all segments on the battery indicator were "lit". I even used the radio a bit. Then I used the radio a bit more, and made a call during which I had to pull the headset (since I use my own phones which don't have a microphone). The radio cut out automatically as I made the call. Thinking nothing more of it I just hung up the call and didn't listen to the radio again. About two hours later I heard a battery warning beep, and the indicator was down to the last bar! Checking the list of applications revealed that the radio application (mute and with no antennae) had kept going, and drained the battery even faster than it does normally (I believe).

I believe there are several problems like this with ill-behaved applications suddeny draining the battery. Nokia or Symbian should fix these problems.

BTW, make sure 3G is not constantly on. Turn it off completely, or make sure it is set to be on-demand.

Actually, 3g doesn't drain the battery by itself, just the lack of service coverage so if you're in a good 3g area the phone will not have to keep searching for the signal. I agree with the comments made about runaway applications and the best way to keep this in check is to press and hold the menu key to see which applications are open and then close the ones you are no longer using - except standby of course which cannot be turned off. Btw, I have 3g turned on at all times and I get an average of 2 days useful battery life before I recharge, this is with moderate use of most functions of the handset, 8 to 10 calls a day and perhaps 10 sms's plus the odd video call.

Re: N80 New Battery?? WHEN????

I used to get just 2 days locked on GSM before upgrading to V4.0623.0.41. Now it lasts 2,5 to 3 days, but when I switch to dual mode, the battery lasts less than 2 days. Maybe it's my operator's signal, but it's a bit of annoying not being able to use the phone fully.

It can´t have a new battery, because doesn´t fit.

Errr,

Actually, it can. When BL-5B was first launched, it came with a capacity of 760mAh. Later it was upgraded to 820mAh. Now, 860mAh.

NCL claims that mine is a 860mAh, but with my usage (2 hours of music on mp3s, 1 hour of calls & about 10 messages), I can't last 2 days. LOL :smileyvery-happy:

Our problem. There's no indication on the capacity and manufacturing date on the battery packaging. :smileysad:

Cheers. ^_^
