It was fast at first, now we are barely pushing dialup modem speeds.
I know it's not my computer because all other USB transfers are ultra fast, it's just this phone that now transfers slow.

It DOES work anyway. Just try, clever guy. ![]()
The problem is caused by overflowing data buffers; so sending smaller blocks is the only solution at present; if you like it or not.

Yes we all know it works "clever guy" but it doesn't get to the bottom of the problem does it?
I've transferred over 12gb (mix of video and music) in one go with no major slowdown so there's obviously a problem here that needs solving.

Dear Psycho,
"We all" know there's no other workaround concerning this problem, this is the only workaround that actually works.
So it's of no greater need discussing impossible practices reserved to be done by the N8's developers only.
This is a user forum, so I suggest measures helping users on the fly; like it or not.

Back on topic.
I've just transfered a 700MB video file and transfer rate was 12MB/sec. The phone was connected in Ovi suite mode, and I transfered the file to mass memory not an SD card. This information may be useful in tracking down the OP's slow transfer speed.
All the best.
