Hi, I have enabled phone autolock code during mail configuration. The phone locks after a preset time. But now i could not make this preset time for autolock to 'None' and the phone throws 'Unable to unlock phone'.
Anyone pls help.

I'm not 100% sure but i think it might be a REquirement on MfE that you have to have a lock code set for security reasons.
I will ask a few people and see what I can find out

I have the same problem. I have deleted the MfE mailbox, but still I cannot disable the autolock. Autolock is so intrusive that I cannot use MfE anyway.
But how can I now disable autolock on the N8?

Hi there, had the same problem even after deleting the mfe mailbox! the autolock was so annoying that it was beginning to do my head in! Anyway found on here that someone had same problem with their e72 and they reinstall their device software from nokia ovi suite without doing a hard reboot. Thought i'd give it a shot and it worked and none of my original settings were lost. Thankfully i get on with my life now!:![]()

I had the same problem! I added a Microsoft Exchange email, didn't like it, deleted the account off my phone and couldn't disable the phone autolock period. Everytime i clicked "none" it would say "Unable to unlock phone!"
A reboot did not work. I will try the solution - reinstall device software from Ovi Suite.

So reinstalling the device software from Ovi Suite didn't work. At least it allowed a backup of files and settings to an *.nbu file. It didn't erase anything anyways. Everything stayed the same, including the lock code, even after a reboot.
So I tried the "Factory settings - Restore" in the settings. All my files and settings were intact except for the desktop icons. But even after a reboot, the lock code is still there.
Finally, I went to "Factory settings - Delete data and restore" and it worked! The process takes about 5 minutes. Phone autolock period is gone! Even the lock code is gone, because when it's clicked, it asks to enter a new one.
So I restored the *.nbu file using Ovi Suite. That restored files, settings and desktop icons. Some apps weren't restored, like Opera. So it doesn't work perfectly. But most importantly, the lock code wasn't restored, so that's all good. Works for me !

Is there any other way to disable autolock on the N8 besides reinstalling device software?
I too had the issue of having installed a work email account using Mail For Exchange, which required autolock, and now even after deleting the MFE account, the phone still wants to autolock itself. ![]()
Thanks for your advice!
