Hi,
Despite a Podcasts option in the Music Player menu of the N8, there seems to be no way of atually adding a podcast! Have I just missed it?
It looks to me like a simple oversight that will be corrected in the next fimware update. In the meantime I've installed a 3rd party app which seems to work ok,but I'd prefer to have it working properly.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Ben

The issue I have with Podcatcher is that the Podcast Icons appear in the Photo Gallery. Pet hate of mine.

I have, in fact, installed podcatcher and it seems to be working ok. The icons thing drives me mad. I'm going to start a separate thread about it - some other apps do it to, at least various social networking apps on my old 5800 did.
But back to podcasts... isn't there any way to add a podcast using the pre-installed Nokia software? It's weird if there isn't...

It certainly looks that way. But Nokia clearly intended there to be one, since, like on the 5800, the Music Player menu includes a Podcasts option - this is meaningless unless there's some way to add and otherwise manage podcasts!
So, like I said, I believe the capability is in the phone, and either it's so hidden that I can't find it or simply not implemented, by mistake, in the current firmware.
Cheers,
Ben

Rajhot,
Much as I hate to admit defeat it looks as though you're right. Ah well, fingers crossed for podcasting support in the next firmware!
Cheers,
Ben

There is actually a way to add and edit podcast. Go to Start->Web. Then you open any web site. In the left lower corner you will see 3 horizontal lines. Click on that and you see another menu with multiple icons. One of them is "Go to feeds". This is your podcasts. (They call them feeds, but this is the same). Then you can create a new one or edit existing. It works somehow but much worse than the one I had on N82. First of all why on Earth one has to open a web site (notice Any web site) to get to podcasts. Second of all I still don't know where they store saved podcasts. Third when you click on a certain podcast it starts playing and downloading at the same time. And not always I want this. Usually I need to just download some news before going to lunch. But now I have to make sure it is not very loud. Forth, the player is much crappier than the one in N82. I cannot even scroll through the podcast.

My old X6 had the option to add podcasts from a directory that was built in since I got it.
Amazing they delayed this phone for quality control and software tweaking yet they get this wrong... and it doesnt communicate with my bluetooth car kit when maps is open. Crazy!

True... but nightmarish!
For the moment I'm getting my podcasts in Podcatcher, then refreshing Music Player so they show up there.
Not ideal by any means, but it'll do for the moment.
Thanks a lot for your help.

The file moved to Forum Nokia:

I just don't understand why nokia doesn't add this application to the mobile by default, or at least adds it to the Ovi Store.
