Got the update on my N8 in India.
Major issues not fixed.
1. Music player : Album and artists not separated
2. Photo Application : Video clips continue to appear under the photo application
3. Email Application: Cannot turn off the email sync, cannot specify connection settings outside mail for exchange
4. Browser is same as before
5. No portrait QWERTY
6. No Stand-alone GPS app like the E72. Still have to use Le-GPS
Is this firmware an eyewash to keep Nokia's consumers happy while overstaffed departments at Nokia are slowly working to deliver updates for the N8, when the device is officially obsolete.

It was already well documented that pr1.1 would be a minor update and not a proper firmware update.
My best guess is, it is probably to prepare the phone for the major update which is supposed to follow approximately a month later.
Cheers.

The standout missing components of the Nokia N8 is obviously the outdated design of the Browser and it's lack of Qwerty keyboard.
These features as it has been officially stated, will be arriving sometime in the near future.
Obviously this can be frustrating. Especially with such dramatic changes, and leaked PR 2.0 firmware video's showing off the upcoming improvements gets people a little anxious. Especially knowing it's out there. Sadly life isn't like that and adjustments that need to be made, unfortunately take time.
There are no phones like Nokia.

and what about these?
1. Media transfer in progress message ( never ends, when mp3 files copy to the device )
2. Go to application and scroll down using right hand scroll bar ( see it is really laggy/choppy - not only in application everywhere if you use scrollbar its really laggy choppy!!!)
but, if you go to, application, music player/photo album, and use the scroll bar ( it's really nice smooth ) we want like that in all applications/every where.
3. Music player with custom equalizer, ( not enough, pop, rock, bass booster etc )
4. NTFS file reader.
5. mkv/avi bug ( some mkv/avi files play but some not )
6. reddish purple display bug ( half side reddish color in screen saver clock )
7. Video camera recording at 30 fps with auto focus ( n8 can record at 30 fps with autofocus)
8. New browser!!!!
9. proccessor over clock to 800mhz

No offence guys,
But before you come onto the Nokia forum and complain about PR1.1, maybe you should have done your research beforehand.
PR1.1 was always going to be a minor update, which focused more on background performance rather than actual features or visual improvements. PR1.1 is a bigger update on the N8 because it offers massive performance enhancements.
In general, when a program has been updated, if the version changes by 0.1 or something similar then it WILL be a minor update. eg 1.0 - 1.1 it represents a change or update to version 1. But when PR2.0 comes, that represents a new step in the software, or a 'next level'. If there are bugs in PR2.0 then you can be sure there will be a PR2.1 shortly thereafter.
PR2.0 is going to be a major update with 50+ new features, and PR3.0 will represent a huge advancement and will completely change the UI of symbian.
PR2.0 is nearly ready for deployment, but don't expect it before March, it could possibly be ready in the March/April/May period. and PR3.0 won't be ready till the end of the year.

I would just like to request for two things:
1) faster screen rotation (no lags or delays) from numeric keypad to qwerty keyboard when typing a message
2) please bring back the animated image screen saver
Anything else, I wouldn't really mind. Thanks Nokia~Microsoft Alliance

I am always amazed by the number of people who complain about the firmware updates taking days or weeks to appear in their required variant and then when it does arrive, that it doesn't change their world. I think Nokia does a good job to provide firmware updates for their devices sometimes for years after the device itself was released (think 5800). Also, the firmware updates install easily and I've never experienced a problem as a result of installing one. They obviously do a lot of testing and take the whole process very seriously.
QWERTY keyboard in portrait hey? Why on Earth would you think that would be good to use? It's absolute rubbish on the iPhone and results in me receiving lots of gibberish text messages from my friends who use that awful device. Surely anyone's fingers are too large. You'd need a resistive touch screen and your fingernails to make that work. What is wrong with turning the phone on its side to enjoy a well spaced out QWERTY? That's what I do. I like having the traditional alphanumeric keyboard in portrait no matter what the predictable, regurgitating American reviewers say.
For the next firmware update I would like to see a share to Flickr service integrated into the photo gallery and the intentional pause in between songs to be removed. It really mucks up lots of the albums I listen to!
I really see no other issues with the lovely N8.

I agree with SpecK73,
I wonder why people don't read the spec before buying and then complain on what is missing?
And not read the forums (which are plenty) telling what PR1.1 was for?
My N8 serves well for the things I got it for. I wouldn't mind better browser etc but on a phone size screen it will always be limited. And I know I'll get new browser in PR2.0.
I agree also that this portrait qwerty discussion is strange - I wonder who (adult) can really fit in their fingers in descent speed to it and benefit of it as eg I have enough to concentrate to fit my fingers even to landscape qwerty. A capasitive stylus pen would be nice...
Is it just that as the iDevice and Android has it then we must bash Nokia for not having it (yet)?
Despite the fact that it has been announced widely that PR2.0 will have it among many things
just wondering...

@specK73 get pixelpipe, has all the sharing options in it to every service you can think off, straight from the photoalbum or when you snapped the shot, there is even a very nice beta version on nokia betalabs with some more nice feautres in it.
@specK73 and Kjs_ qwerty in portrait mode is a requirement (apparently) to have swype also in portrait, which actually works great like that. Having used it on the formentioned non nokia devices

Hello
In pr2.0 you can chose between qwerty and normal multitap/t9 in portrait mode.
And you have a new browser and better scrolling + nicer animation in the start screen.
I´ve tried it on a Nokia C7 that has a beta of pr2.0 in it
.
So wait it´s going to be nice!
What I´ve notice is that with pr1.1 in N8 was working flawless with Parrot
Bluetooth car handsfree. It lags less when going true the menyes.
choses Wlan more times now att home than pr1.0 butt not always![]()
