I don't know if its a PR 2.0 problem or what, but I don't have that APN options settings.

But I managed to SOLVE this problem by going to:

Messaging > Options >Settings>Multimedia message

The I set MMS creation mode to Restricted.

That's it, I restarted the phone and now everything is OK.

Thanks for taking your time to reply... Yes, I had already done that. My problem is with the APN menu.

Please, can anyone help me? I'm really going mad! Why can I send MMS with some SIM Cards but not with others?

I didn't know about this MMS issue before I tried it out myself.

You CANNOT edit pre-defined Access Point(s) (APN) on the NOKIA N8, disappointing to say the least. So I carry two unconnected APNs without being able to delete them, they probably went imported from my old SIM card or Phone Switch (built-in application).

It took me some searches around to find this thread and hook up a solution. It turned out that the avarege Johon has to dip into the settings, and create a brand new category in destinations.

Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations

Options > New Destination >

Name it: Multimedia Messaging

There you can create the new APN for your MMS messages, or move an existing APN if you already defined one. This however won't grant you the ability to choose the right MMS Access Point in Menu > Settings > Application settings > Messaging > Multimedia message > Access point in use.

I rebooted the phone as well but nothing happened until I added valid server address and port in the advanced settings in the aforementioned Access Point (you can edit such Advanced settings by picking it frome the menu Options within the Access Point where you can edit regular details).

Kudos to mcgiffin for pointing out the right direction.

I have exactly the same problem which I think it is a bug in their symbian ^3 ,  I did report that bug to Nokia and it seems they are stupid enough to say there is no problem , here i will give you the thread of bug report ,

and I dont think they will fix that in thier Anna version , anyhow  go to my thread and leave comments there , may be they will try to reconsider it  and support our case

It seems like this issue is related to a corrupt connection database as also pointed out in:

Unfortunately a solution isn't mentioned there.

What I really don't understand why the access point and destinations settings rae not reset when a factory reset of the phone is made.

So problem marked as solved & its not. Nokia really have some issues. the MMS profile has also cause me some headache, I'm with three. As with my previous s60 v5 phone the default access point's may be protected, cannot be delete/edited.

With S3 Anna skype on 3 is using my mms profile for connecting to its packet data service. It works sometimes (weird) and other times its trying to connect 10 times an hour maybe.

I'm a bit lost what to do, I can't manually set the default access point for the app, I can't delete the mms profile & although I set new access points as defaults it has no effect.

I wonder what perils Belle will bring.

I have exactly the same problem as you describe.
I have 2 N8s, changing the sim card between them:

Skype on 3 will work with my unlocked UK vodafone, and
it won't work on 3UK handset, so it has to be due to the N8 and not the sim card

The only thing you have to do to get access point shown in messaging settings menu is to define home page address in your access point. I just tried it on my C7. Works without any problem.

Done, it works.

I'm going to give you some hints.

1) Install NCT...meh

2) Start NCT...

3) Select the device model for the new profile (Here you have to choose your phone model) and afterwards close the windows that pops up. (Don't play out there)

4) Go to Devices > Edit Online > Ok

5) DON'T PANIC...You won't be able to delete the setting from the program but just modify it to make it visible under Destinations folder and then delete your lovely MMS setting

6) Click on destinations and choose your MMS settings, then click on duplicate (Last button of the four)

7) Then just copy the settings from the recently copied MMS setting (Properties and Purposes = Nothing), etc.

8) Save the configuration

9) Unplug your phone and check.

WORKED TO ME.

For those savage out there in the forum, I just want to make clear that this was a real issue.

Don't deny it, just go to a s60v5 Nokia and check it by yourself.

Nokia didn't solved it in Nokia Belle but the truth is that NOW I'm not planning anymore to move to iOS and nor Android (Not at all) because this time, Nokia made a serious step forward.

This is the way to solve this:

1. Set up a new destination called "Multimedia Messaging".  Don't know if the is needed but i did it anyway.

2. Set up a new access point and make sure you define both the proxy settings under the advanced menu AND the homepage on the regular settings.

3. This access point should now be available to select in the MMS Settings.

You DO NOT need to download NCT although it is fun to play around with some of the settings.

It doesn't work that way.
Basically because MMS access point has a "hidden privilege tag" and you can't define anything within because is hidden.

However I can't get NCT to read my IMEI! Not in OVI usb setting and not in Mass usb settings...

Try installing Nokia PC Suite before installing NCT. Not sure about it but I guess it will install the necessary drivers.
