Hi,

I´m very happy with my new N8 except one VERY annoying thing:

The phone doesn´t advise me of incoming/new e-mails (using GMail). After testing every tips via this forum I managed to get the sound-alert working, but still no visible indication (the little letter-icon in the upper-right corner does not appear – and the widgets for missed activities, calls and messages doesn’t work for e-mail either.)

I just called Nokia Customer Support and they didn’t recognize this problem… They suggested a complete reset (*#7370#). But even if I of course will make a backup first, I´m a little bit nervous (and definitely not sure if this will help) – so what do you think…?

If someone of you has fixed a similar problem, please help me out.

they always advise a complete reset.

as far as i know this is expected behaviour. you could add a mail widget to your homescreen if you wish.

Unfortunately this is normal, Nokia N8 does not have any notification for incoming e-mail except homescreen widgets, which work pretty ok, but still you dont get notification e.g. in lock screen or in notification area where new messages and missed calls are shown.
