Please contact the NCC at my place too, Malaysia, Sarawak, Kuching
Tell them about the problem and tell them it's NOT normal to have purple tint display, my phone is still under warranty, but i won't be send my phone to NCC to replace the display until i know the NCC at my place have a proper calibrated display with no purple tint issues at all, please don't delay this small problem too long until my warranty wears off, i'll sue you for good
Edit: Why not annouce this problem too all NCC and Phone seller officially? it's make things alot easier, this may cause lost to nokia but it's worth to maintain nokia fans/users loyalty, i had a hard time when buying my C7-00 from my place, there's one play where the sales girl argued with me telling me the purple tint issue is normal, she had no problem using it, i tried to convince her but she kept saying it's normal, better yet, she told me if i don't like the phone from her shop, i can buy from other places (in fact, every seller i've check at my place have this issue on both C7 and N8), in this scenario shows that that sales girl just failed to be both seller and consumer, Nokia should really announce this problem and have them fix fast, before more people who live in a coconut shell are going to make a fool of themself
FYI, not EVERYONE in this world notice or even care of this problem, but PLEASE, for god sake atleast take some action to those WHO ACTUALLY CARE or this ISSUE

Good news buxz777! Can you provide some before/after pics when you get your phones back?

Can you please inform the NCC in my area in New Delhi, India.
The NCC nearest to my house is the one in Subhash Nagar.
I've been there thrice to show my N8's purple tint issue, but they wouldn't acknowledge it as a problem, and said that it is normal for the amoled screens in every Nokia N8

No I have been told by Nokia care that newly calibrated screens had to turn up and the chances were if you had your screen swapped it would be swapped with another purple screen.. I also went through a few swaps and also got he purple screen , nokia advised to wait till the new screens turnt up .
You will have to wait till your Nokia care point get the new screens that have just been shipped to some care points
I will hopefully have some paperwork with part numbers etc on when i get the phones back , hopefully tomorrow .
I will keep this thread updated with the results of the work done on my phone . Wether it was marked and whether the problems with the screen was fixed.
The lovely lady on the phone did say that these new screen would finally fix the tint issue for good .
You must get the mods to get in touch with your care point and if this doesn't work ask the mods to make a offical complaint against the care point.
Hopefully we will hear good news tomorrow and this problem will finally be able to be fixed
Have a great day

It is strange that Managers and forum Moderators in any way do not make comments on the message in a forum...
The situation remains the same, the previous comments by myself and Vandelay are all still perfectly valid. If your device has this issue, your first port of call is the nearest Nokia Care point. If for any reason you are unhappy with the service, you can call or e-mail your local Nokia Care line. If your NCP claims that they are unaware of the issue, then as per our previous comments you are welcome to forward details to the Discussions e-mail box and we will investigate this with the Nokia Care organisation with your country.

michaels, you said that all the NCP have screens without the purple of the defect, I replaced 2 times, but the problem remained. I wrote to you, you answered that forwarded my letter to the NCP in Ukraine, but the answer is still no.
NCP is now in Ukraine refuses to address the problem of violet, claiming that my smartphone "normal" display. I have to go to court and there to prove that I am not a fool?

I have forwarded your messages to your local Nokia Care and I understand that they have been in touch with you. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your repair, I advise you to make a complaint about it with your local Nokia Care.
What is the point of complaining to local nokia care center when there's no action taken?

I've just emailed, hopefully i'll this ANNOYING problem solved, before my school starts again
The vendor here are very rude!
There's a sale girl argued with me telling me the purple tint issue is normal, she had no problem using it, i tried to convince her but she kept saying it's normal, she's said she's using one herself (n8) and she had no problem with it, better yet, she told me if i don't like the phone from her shop, i can buy from other places, conclusion, she's just failed to be both seller and user

Once again: since some variation on the level of purple is normal to the type of screen used in the N8, seeing some purple on the image on the 1st post will not necessarily mean that the screen is defective.
Because of this variation in the level of purple, there are some screens that seem to display no purple when viewing the same image. There have also been some screens where the level of purple has exceeded the normal variation, and Care points have repaired or replaced those screens under normal warranty conditions. One symptom of these defective screens was that they showed the upper part of the analogue clock covered totally in dark purple.
Reg3e - I just replied to you by email. Feel free to post here the pictures that you sent to me by email. I'm not an engineer but the screen in those pictures certainly looks defective to me.
The Care points have received information from Nokia on how to investigate the screen, so if they are saying - after inspecting the phone properly - that the level of purple is normal to this type of screen, then the replacement of the screen will not be covered by warranty. However, they would need to use the official instructions by Nokia. Unfortunately Reg3e's experience seems to be an example that shows that this has not always happened.

Utter and complete nonsense. Please cease and desist from perpetrating this misleading statement to fob people off, we are not illiterate morons here. There are two types of screens - with and without purple tint, i.e. standard and defective. There is no variation allowed, full stop. There is no exact procedure for "establishing the level of purple" specified in the Nokia service bulletin, which leaves the decision to the subjective opinion and current mood of the person at the NCP - thus providing a convenient escape clause to save Nokia some cash.
Any purple seen on the image in the 1st post means the screen is defective and should be replaced. Anyone who has such a phone can confirm to you that if the purple tint is seen in the test image it is also evident anywhere on the phone where the display must show shades of grey - photos, videos, theme backgrounds, etc.

Well, since Vandelay say so, i'm pretty **bleep** actually, but i'll stay calm for now since Vandelay told me Malaysia Nokia will contact me as soon as they got the solution
