Thanks everyone for your replies.
As I stated since my first post, I'm still on PR 1.0 and it's a Tesco branded unlocked phone using a T-mobile chip.
I just thought I’d try and download to PC from iPlayer desktop, then send to phone. This too didn’t work
The only thing I think I can do before I give up is try a full reset or reinstall and see what happens.
I'm just concerned that is it worth it to lose much of the other functionality of this phone, along with many of my installed apps etc just for Video playback?
The problem is definetely with N8's, maybe there is a missing or corrupted file that needs to be reinstalled.

Whoops! Sorry about that. Looks like we hijacked your thread, with a slightly different problem.

Yes, I've tried various ways and incantations but the results still the same.
I feel I will have to reinstall the firmware and see if it makes a difference.

Same issue here Iplayer worked before updating.
Release PR1.1
Software Version 013.016
Model N8-00
I am based in the uk and have a vodafone sim card. The bbc iplayer app came pre-installed with the phone..
After the update any new video that is download cannot get a licence file to clear the DRM. This is a major bug with the new release of the firmware..
Does anyone know of a way of downgrading,

Unfortunately there is no way of downgrading firmware version to previous one.

There should now be a fix available for PR1.1 BBC iPlayer issue, you can download it from the page below:
http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/product-support/n8-
The fix will at some point be available also via SW Update menu in the device.

Many thanks to all concerned on behalf of UK users for expediting this issue so rapidly.

Say what you like about Nokia, and its the easiest thing to criticise them at the moment, but can you name another manufacturer that would have provided a fix so quickly?

Well, as the OP, I'm glad you all seem to have found a solution to your iPlayer issues.
Sorry to say, even after the fix provided, I'm still left with my original problem.
I'm still on PR 1.0 so maybe thats why the fix didn't work.
I'll probably have to do a reinstall and see what happens.
Just by way of interest, will I lose anything or will some functions not re-install if I doo?

Well .. i have to say that i never had this problem at all. I'm a Tesco mobile user and i recently flashed my phone and the iplayer still worked ok. The problem i have though, is that if i'm streaming a programme and i move the progress bar forward (any duration) the ajax loader doesn't disappear from the screen. It still plays the programme while the brightness is tinted and it just goes round and round in the middle of the screen. It's very annoying and i can't seem to find a fix. Does any one have this problem?
Regards.

Hi Mapantz, I just tried mine and it does that too.
I thought that was normal.
Just by way of interest, when you say you flashed your device, why did you need too and you're still on PR 1.0 as I am aren't you?
