Hello Peeps,
I bought this phone at a prioce I couldnt refuse. It IS genuine but something fishy is going on with it.
When I enter *#0000#, I get this:
Nokia N8 V 5.20 20-02-2011 RM-233 Variant 00.00. All the US N8's are RM-596.
When I connect The supplied CA-101 cable, the N8 gives me 2 options: Mass Storage and Com Port. Mass storage works however when choosing Com Port, Windows 7's Device manager shows MT6225 and says it needs a driver. Neither OVI Suite NOR PC Suite recognize the phone (probably becasue there is no driver). I have tried Nokia's cable driver with no luck. I would like to update the phone to the Version that will work properly with the Nokia software.
What is this Phone?!?!?!
Why does it say RM-233 which,when looking on Nokias products, is nothing like a n8??!!
Anyone buy one oif these phones???

@progdrums
Sorry to tell you that this is counterfeit device, if deal seems too good to be true then it probably is!

I thought so too but it IS genuine. It came in the original box with original accessories. Genuine box and accessories. The phone does not and is NOT a clone!. I will take pictures if it helps. I have read elsewhere that you can force different firmware on the units to get more functionality. It does not resemble the pictures but rather physically and hardwarewiz is the same as a north american N8.
The HDMI port is also missing as with some other Asian designated phone
The camera and video specs are what the N8 IS, which is what is confusing me. If only I could get the driver working I would be able to do more.
By the way it boots the same as my RM-5230 with the nokia animation. I am suspecting that ist first revision N8 for Europe/Asia market.
What else can I say, ask around and see maybe if others have got these in North America as I got it from a guy who sells from his car.
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW. The chinese clone drivers dont work either.

That's allright then as the seller has impeccable credentials and if you are really lucky the IMEI matches that on the box!![]()
