N73 sending text messages twice?

[ Edited ]
I have an N73 with an Orange PAYG SIM card. Recently when I send a text, the recipient gets it twice - and I pay twice. It doesn't happen every time I send a text and never happened when the same SIM card was being used in another handset.

Is there a setting somewhere on the N73 that I need to change? Does it have anything to do with the fact that I have 'Duel mode' (UMTS and GSM) selected under 'settings > phone > network'?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Text messages sending twice?

It has nothing to to with "dual mode" being set to "on". I had a similar problem on my Nokia N85. It might sound silly but my phone was sometimes sending texts twice if i double pressed the send button. I send texts by just pressing the green button once and it works for me.

Re: Text messages sending twice?

I definitely only press the 'send' button 'once'. As I say, it doesn't happen every time.

Could it be due to poor signal in the area I send a text from (even though the signal bars are showing full strength)?

Re: Text messages sending twice?

Ok then, it could be signal related, or an intermittent network fault. I have been on Orange for years and also had several times when texts have sent more than once, with many different phone's i've had.

If you think your phone is the problem, then do a backup, then connect your phone to the PC and check for software updates. If no new software is available then just try reinstalling the firmware.
