N73 Switch off Problem

Hi

Just got the N73, but when I switch the phone off it just seems to hang and lock on the screen saver.

The only way to resolve it is by disconnecting the battery and then everything is ok, can anyone help?

Re: N73 Switch off Problem

Which software version do you have? try a software upgrade with Nokia Soft Updater from support pages, and should work.

Hi,
First of all check out your firmware version by pressing: *#0000#
so if you have it V 2.xxxxxxxx then you need to upgate your firmware to V 3.xxxxxxx ... I was having the same problem with my N73 but when I updated it, most of problems have been cleared ..

To update your phone go to this link and follow the instructions there .. the link is :

hope it'll work

Note that in the link above, the upgrade will be by your mobile phone code .. so this update will be specially for your phone .. when you click the link, it'll show you how you could find your link ..

Re: N73 Switch off Problem

Have a look at item 15 on this page. Categorically states (from Nokia) that it will not void your warranty.

Re: N73 Switch off Problem

[ Edited ]
At first I couldn't spot why sometimes my handset would swich off and not at other times. Today (before I read this thread) I spoke with 3 . They suggested I was sent a new handset after only having it 12 days.
Now I've read some threads on the internet I don't think the problem will go away, so I rang 3 again and asked to speak with a senior support person. After much discussion along the lines of [I believe this is a known problem with the 3 version of the N73 x-series firmware] and [please look at your knowledge base] the person at 3 admitted that this is known problem and will only be fixed when Nokia release a newer version than v3.0638.0.0.1 (54.01). It was like pulling teeth. So now I have a new handset on it's way and I know it won't work any better than the one I have. Might just keep the battery for my trouble. Forgot to say that if you get a support person at 3 that actually looks at the knowledge base they won't accept handsets back for repair with this fault, probably because they can't fix it. That's what I was told in my second call to 3.
BTW If you switch to the general profile before you switch off everything is OK
