N73 Issues

I've bought the N73 and still trying to get my head around everything!

a few points I'm uncertain about:

1. what's with the blue flashing light when it hasn't been used for a while? Exactly what is the light supposed to be doing (apart from meaning I have to put a sock or something over it at night so I can get to sleep)!

2. Why can't you delete large numbers of texts in one go instead of having to delete them individually or am I missing something?

3. Is there a shortcut to getting back to the main screen if you've gone into numerous other screens to do something?

4. When videoing has anyone noticed when you pan around that the picture stops and starts and doesn't pan smoothly or is this a fault with mine?? I finally opted for the N73 over the Sony Ericsson K800 after much deliberation simply because the video facility seemed a better quality but this stop starting when panning is not impressing me one bit!!

Re: N73 Issues

1. I think the light is just to show the phone is switched on, because the screen switches off after a while, it is really annoying at night (as it not having timed profiles), put it face down.

2.Use the PC Suite to delete large numbers of text messages in one go, unlike previous models - a bulk delete command wasn't included with the N73, clever Nokia.

3. Pushing the Red End Call button allways returns to the standby screen, although it seems to leave the applications you were just in running - so eventually the phone gets slower and slower, or gets low memory messages.

4. As for the video, I imagine that the frame rate isn't that high, so a choppy image may result if you pan too quickly, or in poor lighting conditions. See if the videos still pan poorly when you watch them back on your computer.

Re: N73 Issues

Sorry I just realised, to delete multiple text messages on the phone:

When in inbox, press the 'pencil' key and hold it, if you scroll up or down using the joystick all the messages you pass will become ticked. Release the pencil key to scroll normally.

Pressing the pencil key and then clicking the joystick will tick just the highlighted messages.

Then you can press Options > delete and all the messages that have been ticked will be deleted.

And Nokia don't say that in the Manual because...?

it is mentioned on page 14 of the manual

Re: N73 Issues

Thanks for helping.

Page 14 only refers to the pencil button in moving files.

If I were to look in the manual for help involving removing multiple text messages, which was the problem here, I would have never found page 14 in the manual had I looked up either D for Delete in the index, or read the entire chapter on Inbox.

Re: N73 Issues

You can actually find this information about selecting items in the Get started guide on page 13, under the title "Useful shortcuts".

However, the manual and the Get started guide seem to lack instructions for deleting multiple messages this way.. Maybe they have assumed that you can apply the instructions in the Get started guide to all lists in the device, be it text messages, or pictures.. Or whether you're deleting them or removing them etc..

Another way of deleting all of your messages is to us the mark all function in the options list, it'll delete everything in that folder.

Re: N73 Issues

Actually slowness depends on the processor rate of the device.which is very slow in N73-201.38 mHZ
Even firmware upgrade cannot do this.
I mean, buying an n73 many think that they could buy a 2 gig mmc cards but lol, thats way wrong.Because according to the processor rate it is wise to keep its mmc at best 256 mbit.
So you may now ask me why n73 ME puts 2gig mmc
Dude that another trick, the music software is designed to work with 2gig mmc so you may easily do all the music funtionalities in the ME but reality is the other tasks will remain slow like viewing photos or opening videos.
Im telling this bcoz I have an nokia n91 which has 4 gig HDD with only 206.38 MHz processor!
So think about it
