We who run this forum for Nokia are sorry to see that some local Nokia Care points haven't been able to fix your N8's. You should be entitled to a working phone, and there is no real excuse when your device gets back from repair but is still not working.

In the case that your malfunctioning N8 has already been in repair but it hasn't been fixed, we advice you to call or email Nokia Care in your country and ask to make an official complaint. Thanks vandelay, so what exactly in products and services have you improved since Octobor (when this issue was first reported)? Defective units are still there in open market and people who boght N8s are in December still facing the issue.

2 months have passed after the issue was detected, still Nokia care centers do not have a repair manual or instruction about how to fix the issue? 1 month has passed after Nokia officially announced the problem, still Nokia care centers don't know how to fix the problem?

When we return a defective phone to care center, how come our "repaired" devices fail again? Is this your so called service improvement?

Have you realized that people want to know the actual reason of the failure? if you are so concerned about people's need, then why don't you tell us the real cause of the fault? Do you have that amount of courage?

People's money and time is not a toy to play with. If you don't understand this now, very soon you wont be connecting people anymore.

This is apalling. I have used Nokia phones before.. and frankly a large group of us here were waiting ever so patiently for the N8 to get available because we really wanted to get the phone since a few months ago. When it did finally get to our shore, we decided to wait and see people's comments before all of us jump onto the bandwagon (i will say that there are at least 30 of us). After hearing the initial negative feedback, we though, that we would just wait a little longer for the kinks to work out as with all new phones... and after 4 months... nokia still ships defective units to people! And provide defective replacements? Is nokia out of their mind? It's coming to the end of the year.. and i think all of us lost hope that nokia would ever fix this phone.. and currently actively looking at getting either the IPhone4 or and Android Phone... I guess it's just too bad for nokia... releasing a bad product is really so much worse that not releasing anything at all... and all of us who are die hard nokia supporters.. well,.. I should say were die hard supporters.. don't worry, we wont consider a nokia again. not when there are so many other better choices of phones that actually works..  I totally feel sorry for those who had bought their phones and got it crash a gazillion times.. thank goodness I had not bought one yet... nokia.. buck up!

what if my n8 was bought elsewhere? will Nokia care center honor their warranty on defective units? i bought an N8 in saudi arabia and sent it to the philippines as a christmas gift. I should have listen to a friend telling me to buy an IPhone4 or an IPad as a gift..  

i will aprreciate if anyone from nokia can answer my question.

update ... today i called NCC guys regarding my N8 which was given to them on 13 dec for 2nd time to there material center generally it takes 10 days to sort out issue .........they said that it may take 20 more days because of no global stock of N8 what the **bleep** . i lost all the faith and my hard earned 24000 indian rupees . i think they are yet to solve the issue and my dreams of using that phone atleast on christmas and new year are shattered thanks to nokia. today i decided to buy another phone (not in my wildest dreams nokia again) and i will forefeit nokia N8 as it will be with them for 2 months. nokia is robbing money from consumer openly and no one can do any thing about that ..pity on us!!!

nokia has the worst Customer service in the business. often people at NCC does not even know what they are talking about.. I already kissed my $560 good bye, I'm switching to another brand after 15+ years using Nokia's product, I suggest you do the same sat_chand. there are a lot of alternative to Nokia.

O:the firmware update in january should fix all the problem i guess that's why nokia is taking so long to release it since they wanna tackle all the current issues with the n8 and c7
and because it's their first firmware update as well sinc...e they are gonna be releasing 4 -5 per year

Yesterday, I've change my N8 because the probleme you know...

Today, after I spend hours to upload music, app and set up my phone, my new N8 stoped again ! What is this **bleep**ing phone ? Why Orange give me another one who has the same probleme ? I work all the day with my phone and must be confident with it, I don't have time to loose to install and re install all the time. Do yo really want me to have and IPhone as everyone ? I'me really fed up with that.

The SW quality of this phone is incredible bad. Today I downloaded the "new" ovi maps 3.06 and some maps. It died several times.

These are all SW issues. Nokia is announcing alpha SW as ready to use. It never happened before in the industry that such a bad level is being deployed and sold world wide. I just can't get it.

This will be my last email concerning Nokia N8. I never had such a bad phone. I removed the SIM card today put it back into my old SE 850K. I will even not sell this phone. I don't wanna make somebody else unhappy. I just put it back in the enclosure I got it. I will definitely never ever again buy something from Nokia.

Posts like these I find really sad as it just highlights how many end consumers are being forced to feel by a lack of info concerning what is a very sad issue.

I'm fortunate enough to have a 2nd error free working N8 phone, but I don't know if those in Customer Relations can imagine the level of frustration being felt right now by users with nowhere to turn.

Maybe this and other posts won't be picked up by whom it really matters to, but with there last 2 flagship models, Nokia are becoming like LOTUS of the car world!

I am glad to report that my replacement N8 handset has crashed randomly more than 50 times already in the last 1 week. Many of the crashes happened between important calls.

This Nokia N8 is a real piece of work, and the attitude of Nokia management .. priceless ..

got my nokia N8 6th Nov from virginmobile. it was an awesome phone and i really loved it. until it just stopped turning on exactly 3 weeks after i got it - 27th Nov.

got my brand new replacement phone 8th Dec. lost all the info on my previous phone but i can live with that.

brand new phone was still amazing, took excellent photos and HD video at friend's wedding, GPS saved me heaps of trouble when i went to akl. i even download need for speed shift and gaming was fabulous. i did notice the phone started rebooting quite frequently during usage starting a couple days ago.

Today after talking on the phone with a friend (talked less than 5 mins) the phone felt hot and turn off by itself. 24th Dec: RIP my 2nd nokia N8

i couldn't even go back to the store with the x-mas long weekend coming up : (

luckily this time i save everything on microSD card so at least my info is safe...

I didn't say this, as if the trigger is a faulty hardware and the corrupted firmware just the result, at the end it's an hardware issue. What I meant is that to me the dead phones are recoverable "at home" by more skilled people, but it is just a remedy to the effects, if the trigger event (hardware?) isn't removet.But well, who knows, , if it where a software recoverable bug it'd be a relief for all of us. The problem is that the production manager of Nokia spoke of a not better explained problem of "engines assembly", that let's think of an hardware issue .

I have to say that Nokia was and still the biggest company in this business, they did a mistake with N8 and they are trying hard to fix it. Everyone are doing mistakes... Microsoft with OS "Vista" EA with the disappointed game "Medal of Honor" and the list goes on and on.

What I want to say that Nokia have given so much to this world so we should be grateful and merciful towards them, but I don't mean by that we should give our money away but I mean to be patient and understandable.

At the end, I'm pretty sure that the next firmware that's everyone is waiting for will solve all of the common issues and everyone will be happy.

Also I notice a lots of defective features when my phone was working.
