Be respectful to Nokia! Why? They are disrespecting all of us by selling inferior products that simply do not work. I purchased my silver N8 at Heathrow Nokia Store in February 2011 and had restarting, random rebooting issues from day one. I live in South Africa so the UK warranty does not apply here - I basically have to return to Heathrow to have it repaired/changed and they will no doubt weasel out of the warranty claim. I suffered through the random restarts and constant rebooting/freezing for no apparent reason by switching off every application especially WLAN and Facebook - the first few firmware updates were nothing to write home about as the phone started to get progressively worse with restarts happening up to 10 times an hour. The Anna firmware update took forever to get released by which time I had thrown the towel in with Nokia and opted for a Blackberry Torch 9800. Then Anna was released and I thought I may as well update as the phone doesn't serve any purpose as it stood - it seemed to be an awesome update with everything finally working the way it is supposed to. So there I was feeling a bit irritated by the additional expense of my Blackberry when my of the blue my N8 switched itself off and has not come back to life despite being left with the charger plugged in AND the USB charger attached - I've tried the hard reset - it is dead as in bricked! And the kicker to all this is I have not one but two N8's - as I purchased one (black/grey) for my girlfriend at the same time from the same store and guess what it too has given endless restarting hassles and having upgraded it to Anna firmware I am simply waiting for it to brick itself! Nothing I have found online has solved the problem and I am not about to waste more money having it fixed out of warranty here by any Nokia agent because by the sounds of things the fix is at best temporary and the phone will forever be as useful as a brick. Thanks for nothing Nokia - you certainly will not be getting any more business from me after years of loyalty to your brand I am now well and truly fed-up and perhaps you should consider the impact of inferior quality goods and what it means to loayl brand supporters as you watch your market share shrivel up in the wake of all that is Android.

Hi
Iam from india. Even my phone is dead 25 days back. when i went to nokia care in mangalore, India they took 10 days to replace motherboard . but when i got my phone back its display was in red color and no one can see the screen continuously because it will cause pain in eyes. so again i went immediately and complained about display problem.
but they are short of amoled screens. so they told it will take ten days to get stock. but just after using phone for 7 days its dead again...............completely dead..............no recharging power.....nothing......
this is the worst phone i ever purchased. i am informing all my friends and showing the condition of my phone telling them not to buy.
after spending thousands of rupees nokia is enjoying by giving defective phones.
my doubt is the total product is not good. there is some thing wrong in their chip design. they just experimenting with the people.....definitely if this time if they dont deliver good phone, iam going to file a case against nokia in consumer court in india.
the best worst phone in the world....and they are telling that they can beat iphone, etc phones..... blah blah blah ...nokia i will never buy in my life time.

Whilst sending a text my N8 froze, after about 3 hours i decided to ring nokia directly to get info on how to fix it. After being on hold for 45 minutes, I was finally greeted by call centre personel who spoke very little English and was unable to bring a solution to the problem. I then researched online to find that by holding down all the "pressing" buttons on the phone, this would re-start it. The phone turned off and has not turned back on again since, it does not even recognise when the charger is in place. I am currently working away and this phone is all i have to reply to work emails, enquiries and speak to my family. If anybody could help (without it having to be sent away) it will be greatly appreciated. Please help I feel like i've lost a limb! Thank you

My Nokia did this, I did not send it off as they cannot guarantee saving all my pictures and videos. I took it to Blackbushe Sunday Market, one of the guys on a phone stall did 'something' for £25 and tada - all fixed - brilliant and everything saved...

if they are dead only nokia care can help you or if you bought them as a dealer send your stock back and have them send you another lot of phones.

I don't know if this will work for you but I hold the power button for about 2 or 3 minutes and it eventually makes a funny sound and then it restarts, then I hold the button again and it turns on.

Hi !
I have purchased N8 almost one year back from Bangalore, India.. 6 months back when 3G services started in India and when i started using 3G its problems started like getting hanged in between talking, or when another call comes while taking another call etc.. My cellphone become slow to the responses.. Due to this reason i deleted all of my pictures, videos, songs, games and other unnecessary applicaitons from the drive... For few months i was using it only for basic function of calling.. for a while it didn't give get into any problem.. But again hanging problem arised when i started using its applications.. This phone have inbuilt battery so u can't remove it and restart your phone.. i used to wait for 2 or 3 hrs to get it back to its normal state..
Last Friday on (17th oct)when i was updating software for N8, my laptop got switch off due to low battery.. Update got stop in between.. My phone become unresponsive.. I tried to connect it again to update the software but its not responding.. and later after 5 hrs become dead.. I took this matter to Nokia care, Kormangala branch... Now they are saying that they have no idea what is the matter with the phone.. They'll gonna sent it to its some main branch..
They are also telling that there are some traces of liquid drops..
Dude is this some kind of joke !!
I have taken utmost care for my cellphone.. As i'm aware i have always made sure it never tocuhes any liquid.. Then how come liquid get Inside ?? Their logic is might be due to frequent change in tempreture as i use AC.. So this is manufacturing defect.. If phone can't bear change in tempreture due to AC..
Right now so **bleep** off by Nokia's N8.. i have spent 24000 bucks but i can't even use it like normal cellphone.. Over and above these people asking for more money for repairing..
How C**ap they can get to do experiement with their new devices ??
Please anyone suggest way to deal with this issue..

i got my nokia n8 from ebay in the uk, and i updated the phone's software, and the phone switched off, and it will not switch back on at all, so do not update your mobile phone software with nokia software because nokia will make your nokia n8 in to a paper weight thank you nokia........

I've updated my phone lots of times without any issues, so you must have done something wrong yourself. Anyway, if you bought the phone new you can have it looked at under warranty. If it's second hand you won't have a warranty so you will have to pay to have it serviced.
