I've got a large number of contacts(6000+) stored on my exchange account. When i try to sync my brand-new n97 with my contacts, either with mail for exchange or via pc sync, It seems to choke after syncing only 4000-4100 of them. Has anyone had experiance with syncing a large number of contacts with an n97?
Before you ask, i do not want to 'split' up my contact list. I was able to sucessfully work with this many contacts on Windows Mobile via ActiveSync, with my iPhone 2G via ActiveSync, and with a Blackberry Bold via BES. I really like my new n97, but i'll have to return it if it cannot handle my contacts.

I've not had nearly that many.. but my phone struggled horrible with 500 contacts.. I don't think it was the number that was a problem but the free storage space.. it seemed to bloat, especially as many contacts had images associated with them. I thinned them out and removed my SMS/MMS messages synced since 2004 to free up a LOT of space (20meg or there abouts)
I'd be interested to know how much c: storage you have free before and after you tried to sync.. ( and then again if you deleted the contacts that did sync)
6000 is an awful lot of contacts.. but it makes sense in a corporate/exchange arena..

yep, it becomes a bit wacky after it has 4000 on it. But Phone Memory still has 48mb free when it gives up and says "Disk Full".
this is very disappointing, considering that this is the 'flagship' device.

I worked at particular three letter company with almost 400,000 employees - doesn't mean I need them all on my phone, just the few hundred I might actually need to contact. The rest I would just lookup on an intranet site.
A phone with that may contacts is just not usable - don't care what anyone says. Not to mention the potential security breach in the event of a phone loss.
