re:

well well, i'm on my n97 As I TYPE FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY IT STARRTED TYPING IN CAPS ALL THE SUDDEN ... here we go!

anyways thank you all for the unacessary info on how to copy and paste txt from the messaging app but i think it is more fundamental and practical to be able to select /copy / paste text from web pages  hence the amount of information we're dealing with here... we need to rather focus on what's more important like the abiliity of showing the aderess (for this hotel on this web page we just found ) on the famous nokia maps ? where's the hub of info? what if apps exchanged  data in an effective way ?

i really don't want to risk my life trusting a 600$ phone not being able to provide me with rudemantry services that  the n97 was supposed to beat concurance with ...iphones, android phones, you name it ... what does nokia has to offer as far as problem solving answers ? this phone has been on the market for nearly 6 months and to the latest update has't gained what its buyers/owners/users are expecting from it .

please don't get me wrong people this is a jewel, but we need more from it tha just looks and bugs.

Re: re:

Hi. this is not a perfect solution, but Opera mini 5 has a good copy/paste feature, and Google maps gives the option to save various information on businesses etc to contacts, not perfect but very useable, I've booked hotels using it, and used text from the web using Opera to insert into an email. Hope this is of some help.

Good Luck

Re: re:

Frustrated by copy/paste ? It is that work best on this device. Everything else is **bleep** ! I've bought a N97 mini, used it for 2 month and sold it on ebay for half the price I paid. It was my 10th nokia I _WAS_ a fan of this brand.

Now I have a iPhone (i didn't want to buy one since I hate Apple arrogant policy)   but I have to admit that it does not compare to N97. It's like night and day.

Nokia is such a good brand that they should recognize that N97/mini or big is a big big mistake and should replace it for free with apologize with something better

Re: re:

@bobangelin

totally agree wth you..I have n97 and it's terrible, it's manufactured in China and it's very weak, it hangs and a lot of memory problems.

I would really support recalling n97 from the market or exchanging it by n900

Re: re:

@gadelkareem

Just a note. A Nokia N97 is from Finland. A N97 from China is noting to do with Nokia and is a mimic which dosn't have half of what a Nokia N97 has ...

... so your N97 is going to be weak and please don't replace it with a Chinese N900 ;-)

I hope this helps.

(The Nokia N97 is indeed a let down ... and I am not happy ... but I also understand that Nokia have tried something in order to keep up with the market and failed miserably.)

Re: re:

Not true, to the best of  my knowledge, all Nokia N97's sold in NAM (North America) are manufactured in china, not Finland!

I think the correct model is N97-3

Of course there are lots of chineese clones and fakes, but all legitimate chineese manufactured Nokias have the same quality standards as their Finland counterparts.

Re: re:

Your correct my friend, My N97 is made in china and I'm telling you, I've had way less problems than many people on here. Definitely  happy with my eBay purchase hehe. not sure mine is N97-2 or 3, too lazy to turn it off and check it out lol :smileytongue:

Re: re:

That's great Kman00 that means you never had a problem of hang, crash, reset etc.,

For info even mine is a Made In China (Purchaed from Nokia Flagship Store) it is not Chinease N97. Nokia has different manufacturing units for their phones.

Regarding deleting multiple message.

1. If you want to delete all message in a group select group title press backspace and delete.

2. Multiple in a group - Press shift key and start pressing down button using D-pad, it starts marking all contents, hold on the content which you do not want to delete/select keeping shift key pressed press select button(middle button in D-pad) once.

Re: re:

Oh for deleting multiple messages I highly suggest Ovi suite, that one of the few things its good for lol, its pain in the **bleep** to delete like 200 messages in the phone, it deletes them one by one lol oh and regarding my phone, sure I had few crashes and hangs but not 10 a days, I personally restart it once a day just to refresh the at&t stuff, every now and then it hangs and I have to take the battery off but not to the point I want to throw it out of the window lol

Re: Shame on you NOKIA!

Hi

Yes, I think Nokia left out the basic features a phone should have. Coupled with the poor GPS reception, this phone really should have been recalled. To make matters worse, Nokia Maps won't show you a route if you have no GPS signal, which is most of the time. If that worked, it would have been semi-ok (Google Maps allows this). Opera 10 takes away the pain of the built-in browser.

Other problems include:

  • No choice on which memory you can install Nokia apps, they all go into main memory.
  • Using Wifi can be difficult as some apps unilaterally force you to use the expensive mobile 3G data.
  • You can't use a recenlty searched location on Nokia Maps.

Re: Shame on you NOKIA!

Found something that may alleviate memory errors, where you can move your messages from the C: to the external drive. Hopefully, this will take some of the pain away:smileyhappy:
