There are two things i cant seem to find any information on..

One being setting your message tone? i can only find ringtone.

AND  can someone explain how the internet works? do i hav to pay to use it? im on contract.

I'm sure someone will give you a more comprehensive answer, but you can use a wifi connection to connect to the net for free from home/friends, etc. Alternatively you may have some inclusive intternet usage with your contract. You need to check your plan. For example T-mobile have unlimited web on their Flext plan and with my O2 plan you can add free internet as a bolt-on (subject to fair usage). Hope that helps.

If you can find setting to change ring tone then changing message tone is underneath it on the menu - under 'message alert tone' option.

You will always have to pay to use the internet, either through a package or 'as you go'. If you are on a contract then check to see if any internet usage is included in your package. If not you will have to pay as you use it. It can cost up to one pound per Megabyte.

You don't have to pay for it if you're connected to a wifi network

Alas, to the OP, have you tried going through the gallery, selecting what tone you want as your message and then going through the options and trying that way?
I don;t have a 5800 so I don't know if this is possible, sorry.

It depends on your contract. I am on o2 and added unlimited web use as a free bolt on, so I don't pay extra for it BUT you should contact your provider before putting it to the test because using the web can get very expensive without you realising it (take it from the girl who received a bill for £85 one month for using the web)

I am on PAYG with Virgin . Internet access  30p a day up to  a 25 mb limit per day .

okay guys i will call O2 today ,,

BUT i still cant find any settings about changing your message tone or ringtone..  (to change my ring tne i click on a song and apply as ringtone). Any help on where the setings are if there are any?

Menu > Settings > Personal > Profiles

Here select your profile e.g. General

Select Personalise and change your tones
