Hello
I recently moved from a Nokia N82 to the 8Mega pixel N86. Feels like a great phone, solidly built but I am having a few issues with it. Don't know if it is this handset or the model in general. Any other users experiencing similar issues?
1. Straight out of the box I find the operating system much slower than on the N82. The auto rotate is annoying and often doesn't rotate back from landscape to portrait.
2. Can't get it to auto sync photos with the new Ovi s/ware. Need to select syncronise each time. Before my N82 would just sync.
3. There is a flashing envelope (text message symbol) on the home page. I have only 5 text messages so don't think it can mean memory is full.
4. The pictures are often out of focus. In fact, so far I think the snaps from the N82 5Mpixel much much better. Doesn't sound correct does it?
Anyone else have similar feedback and managed to resolve these issues? Shame as it really is a cracking phone other than the above.
Thanks!

Oh and one last point:-
The N82 contacts list would locate contacts by typing in their initials. i.e. typing "JS" would bring up 'John Smith'. With the N86 this doesn't seem to work either.
Odd.

I also have a new N86 (feels like a great phone).
My only problem so far is the annoying flashing envelope. This only appears when my SIM card is inserted. I have read elsewhere that it is related to my SIM card being full with either text messages or contacts.
But how do I clear the data my SIM card?

In the "Messaging" screen, select "options" and select "Sim messages".
You can then see and delete all the messages on your Sim card. Stops the flashing 'message memory full' icon on the main screen.

I bought mine the day it was released. Maybe the first shipment has 'buggy' s/ware?
I have run an update but no change.
For example, I can't get Nokia Sportstracker to upload from this phone.
The most annoying thing is dropping calls and now no reception at my house (sometimes full bars, sometimes no bars during the day).
And today the battery meter was going up as it does when the phone is charging, but the phone was not plugged into a charger!!!
Shame, as I think the phone is fantastic, but so far nowhere near as reliable as my old N82. Maybe I need to take it back.

Hi,
drjarmin did you manage to get the reception problem sorted with your N86 in the end?
I have just got this phone with Orange and when I am sat at home and open the phone it shows 3g but slowly bar by bar it drops down to 2g. According to Orange coverage I live in an excellent 2g, 3g and 3g+ area.
I took the phone into the Orange store who admitted to having a booster in the building and even there it wouldnt get 3g+ like the other staff members phone did.
I'm on my 2nd N86 and still the same problem?

I'm having the same problem. At first, all the photos were blurred and I couldn't get the green auto focus frame. I sent it back to the guy I bought it from (Ebayer, unfortunately, so not covered by an Australin warranty) and the phone, of course, righted itself.
The photos were great until yesterday. Now I can't get the green frame again. Every time I try to auto focus it comes up red. I bought the phone for the camera, and while it's a great phone in every other way, the fact that the camera doesn't work renders it useless.
I have checked for updates and there are none.

Update: This afternoon the green frame started to work again BUT all the photos are still blurred!

No, I haven't got the reception problem sorted.
I took my phone in and they said it was the SIM card, which I didn't believe for one second. But they gave me a new one and no change.
Need to take the phone back.
