Is there a facility to put a GPS aerial on the N95?

I got the N95 really in order to have a neat GPS/OS map system for hill walking and a phone in one and have just been trying my N95 with some OS 1:25000 and 1:50000 maps from Viewranger (excellent mapping product, excellent service). Walking about with the phone open in your hand to maintain GPS reception is a pain - I wonder if there is the facility to have a simple wire GPS aerial like a headphone wire for FM reception so the phone could be in your pocket (except when you wanted to check the map) and the wire outside? Bluetooth would drain the battery too much, especially if GPS was running. One other option would be a case like an IPOD case that runners use, strapped to your arm to leave your hands free - perhaps those are available - anyone know the answer to these two questions?

Idea for Nokia - how about making the maps downloadable by country - for example Europe is a whopping 1.4GB and took me more than an hour to download, fortunately to my PC. To be able to download just single or multiple countries would be great.

Re: Is there a facility to put a GPS aerial on the N95?

I use the Holux see below for details

GPS Bluetooth Receiver - HOLOX BT-321 - Complete - VGC this is an Ebay Item number: 220141858376
shop round I paid about £15 its about the same size and weight as a standard box of mathes
It works really well looks on fast works "indoors" in the car back jeands pocket sirf 111 tech and has auto power shut down too.
I use mine all the time The battery outlasts the N95 battery and can charge via a USB cable mains 250v ac or 12 v dc all supplied with mine

and it lets 2 devices to connect IE have have the N95 connect to carkit via bluetooth but it also connects to Holux so I get navigation on the car ice

Thanks - having Maps and bluetooth running on the N95 doesn't drain the N95 battery too fast then? That was what concerned me about the bluetooth solution.

Re: Is there a facility to put a GPS aerial on the N95?

I've actually been quite impressed with the GPS on my n95. The maps are fairly complete, (including street names in Doha, Qatar...quite the shokka there). It can take a minute or two to lock up at first but seems to take less time for later applications.

What I would like to see is speed/altitude/position info on the map page. The 6110 has this feature and it works really well.

I've been using it in the car on a regular basis; first, just laying on the passenger seat then I got a cheapo phone holder to plug into a vent. I've, so far, not had any issues with it.

Does this GPS receiver work with Nokia Maps? If it does, how do you get the phone to use it instead of its internal GPS receiver?
T-mobile please give us v.20 N95 software.

Re: Is there a facility to put a GPS aerial on the N95?

Does anyone know if external GPS receivers can be used with the Nokia maps program and sports tracker program? I would like to use it for running but i can't run with the phone open!

Thanks for your help.

i sometimes use a bluetooth reciever with maps, works just fine. As long as you disable the internal gps, the battery should be ok, well, as good as can be expected with the n95 anyway.
