is it me or am I seeing the word N97 everywhere on this Discussions Page??
Most of them are bad reviews.....
I mean the N97 is supposed to be the phone of the future according to Nokia...
I'm a 5800 XM owner but watch this video: Nokia N97 Video
What do you think? Is it misleading or true?
Thanks!

As an N97 owner since June, I would say the phone isn't rubbish, but it does fall short of my expectations in many ways. In it's current state (firmware v12) it does not live up to the potential I saw when the first pictures and demos were released.
There is a new firmware due in September, but there is also a limit on how long I and many other users are prepared to wait.
It was supposed to be the flagship, but the N900 is the real flagship, the N97 looks increasingly like a way to generate some profits and try to keep the iPhone at bay while the N900 was being prepared.

You will see very few users praising any phone on here,
By deffinition this is a support forum and people only wash up here when they have a problem
The N97 is disproportionatly represented here as it is the newest product therfore
i) we get alot of people unfamiliar with the new phone asking how to make some features work
ii) there has not been time for firmware releases that fix issues that became apparent after launch to catch up
When the n96 and the 5800 were released, the forums looked prety much the same, but with the model numbers changed, and I'd expect the number of n97 threads to decline over the next few months

Thats because this is a support forum and the N97 is a new popular model! The very nature of this forum is for people with problems to seek help.
What did you expect to find here? Nothing but praise and zero issues for the phone?
As pointed out earlier whenever a new popular model is released you will find lots of people with problems, some software, some hardware and others just user error or user learning. The same happened with the N73, N95, N96, 5800 and now the N97.
Nothing unusual is happening here.

Ok fair enough! I'm a newbie like I only joined 30 mins ago....

But thanks anyway!

@chaterj, don't believe for a moment that the only reason the N97 appears a lot in this forum is because it's a popular phone.
It's a popular phone alright, but one with a large number of problems. I have used S60 devices for the last 5 years and remember some initial problems with the N95, but nothing on the scale of the problems the N97 has with fundamentals like free memory and the web browser.

celios, can you give the trolling a rest please. We all know you've had trouble, but please do not blow it out of all proportion yet again. Why don't you try giving support to people for a change, after all this is a support forum.
The N95 received far more negative attention on these boards when it was released. I should know as I was around at the time.

I'm not trolling, merely answering the question that was asked. Just because you don't like an answer does not make it invalid!
There are a lot of people opening threads about the N97 because there are a lot of problems with the N97 and a lot of people are buying them. Until the problems are solved, this situation will only get worse...

It's natural for a support forum to be full of people opening threads about a popular model. It's not going to be full of praise. Do you not get the concept of a support forum?
The negative comments and cheapshots that you are constantly making are not helping anyone. Whenever there's a troll or rant topic your name appears, either in a post or in the kudos awarded. You are not giving support, you are being a troll plain and simple. It's the trolls that make the genuine helpful folk here think "why bother".
I've even seen you trolling on AAS today about the N900, I really pity you and your anti-nokia attitude.
Now I hope you prove me wrong and actually start being constructive and helpful on this forum, but I wont hold my breath.

My advice was not "incorrect and unhelpful" as you described my answer on the discussion "Cannot create a new profile on my 5800 after factory reset"
It was MY version of answering, I knew that some people may have a different way of solving it
but my advice wasn't "incorrect and unhelpful".......
Also your giving a New Member a hard time. I only joined an hour ago....
Thanks!

When Nokia start being pro-customer, then I'll start being pro-Nokia. It's easy really.
How many of these anti-N97 threads am I starting? Any? No, I'm responding to people who share a similar problem or opinion as I do.
You don't like me giving someone who makes a negative comment Kudos, because let's face it, you're a Kudos junkie and want the gold stars for yourself!

I've had the N97 for about a month now without any problems whatsoever.
I spent quite a while lurking on this forum watching what problems were occurring for users and whet the fix (if any) was. I would say it's a phone for 'techy' users rather thana phone for bling lovers.
I like it a lot and will hopefully like it even more once the v12 firmware is available to Three UK users.

.
How bitter
I don't care who you give kudos to, it just shows your motives for being here are now purely to troll and to support those like yourself. I've got enough kudos thanks so i'm not interested in taking any of yours.
I'm all for people making constructive criticism, that is helpful to users and to the greater cause. I'm against those like yourself that take every opportuninty to put the boot in.

LOL, Putting the boot in... and you're still discussing my 'trolling' because...?
If you don't like negative comments about the N97, I suggest you stay away from most of the threads in this forum.

I love my 97 i had 5800 b4 and it had its fair share of problems as well, 97 is gr8 with tweaking and some settings its stable...and thats what I love about symbian fones they are playable and u never get bored, i ditched a stable always ok Lg arena for my n97 and i am really happy with my decision,
the forums ofcourse normally reflect the newer models go 3-4 months back and they were full of 5800z threads.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the 97. I have a 5800 XM Black and Silver, I have had NO problems what-so-ever with the actual phone!
