I have just installed the new maps after fighting with myself not to for days! 
Right after the install I tried to boot N97 wont boot again..

What is the procedure? I need to reformat it reflash it? throw it in the trash?

boot it up in the off line mode, without sim and see if it helps

sorry let me ask something else, you get the while screen or nothing if you get nothing then you might want to read up on these suggestions

there is no official way but the one suggested seems to work just fine for some users

hmm without sim it booted.. so use it without network forever? If I can live with N97
I can live without a network too I guess ))

what is the next step? try again with sim card?

I get the Nokia LOGO and thats it

no now you should be able to insert sim, it will boot up in the offline mode, all you have to do is say go back to online and it should be fine then, 

*** wait you get the logo only or the whole boot when you take the sim out ? if you get the whole boot just repeat the procedure again with the sim in the phone

I put the simcard it again is not booting.. just the Nokia Logo
maybe I should uninstall the ovi maps in offline mode see if that'll help

interesting update now it wont boot without the card also

ok do you have any memory card in that phone ? also consider the hard reset with the phone turned off. there is a picture of the button combination in the link i gave you, one of the users posted it. try that if all else fails.

yeah I hard resetted it so now I have to devote couple hours to install everything again I guess..

I now finish recovering everything(I think) I will never install anything again on C: drive everything on E: works perfectly after the hard reset on C: I had some quick access apps I wanted them to run quick but I had my lesson.. this is no N95-3 anymore

Can you tell me what happened exactly when installing quick office cause I am thinking to buy it from the link you gave on the other post.. I don't want to reset the phone again today so I must be careful

lol i have been monkeying around and i think i corrupted some files and hence this happened. i think that once you buy the app and install it via usb cable it should be fine, it was really my fault at trying to be 'smart' with a smartphone that backfired on me. once i did all that the file installed perfect so i don't think you will have any issues as you just did a hard reset and your things are in order.

well believe it or not.. I finished everything even installed OVI MAPS 3.01 from sis.. And finished! AND STUPID me checked the software update thing it still showed me C: drive update and OVI MAPS! I (ngage etc..) I chose OVI MAPS and the C drive update.. and again I get the Nokia LOGO on boot, and wont boot again! I am going to do another hard reset.. today I have spent at least 6 hours the phone on my hand.. I guess there is no sleep until I get this thing work! everyday I have spent with my N95 I loved it so much.. now everyday I spent with N97 makes me love my N95 even more. I never had even similar problem with N95 or prior Nokia phones.

OH NO!!!!! i am so sorry mate, yes don't touch it get the memory patch installed only this should not do anything to the phone, tho i am no longer sure what will and what won't. i really really really hope they recitify this madness via next firmware. i can't use a memory card because it crashes and goes into the brick mode whenever i turn off my phone. its a bit much for a flagship. i still love the phone tho and i amsorry you are hating yours.

I am just lauging man it is really funny.. Not hate the phone I always love Nokia devices but this really is ridiculous man. I would spend 1500$ for this phone if It had a stable OS. It is so pity I am fuming right now and laughing at the same time. I will be scared to install anything new from now on )
