Hi there,
I've recently purchased an X6, it's a great phone. The only problem I'm having is sorting out the connection settings for my emails (under the Messaging menu). I don't seem to be able to select an access point.
My default connection is my home WLAN
In my Internet access point the priorities are:
1. Home WLAN
2. 3G
3. GPRS
This works perfectly for all other apps and the internet; but under Options > Settings > Email > Mailboxes > *select mailbox* > Connection settings > Incoming e-mail > Access Point in use.
I can only select specific connections, there doesn't appear to be any option to select my Internet access point?
It's currently set to "Default Connection" which means it uses my WLAN nicely. But when I leave the house it doesn't work without manually navigating through all those options above which is pretty inconvenient.
Am I missing something, or do I really need to do that each time I leave the house and return?
Thanks in advance,
chickendippers

No you don't , if wlan is set to priority 1 then it should revert to priority 2 when out of range, I check my email manually and have browser settings set to ask when needed and am given a choice of what is available.
Good Luck
If I have helped at all, a click on the White Star is always appreciated :

Thanks for your reply carman58. Unfortunately my email connection doesn't seem to revert to priority 2 when out of range, it simply gives an error about no WLAN connection.
I'd rather it didn't have to ask each time I wanted to check my email/browse the internet. But if that's the only way, could you elaborate on the configuration?
Which browser setting are you referring to?
Under Internet > Options > Settings > General > Access Point, the only network connection options I can see are:
Always ask
Internet <-- My Access Point
Do you have the Always ask option selected?

Yes set to always ask and any available sccess point will be listed and just tap what you want to use !

I've finally figured it out. So here is how to configure your Nokia X6 to access the internet via your wireless connection when at home and automatically switch to your provider's network when you're not - without being prompted to select a connection.
Navigate to Settings > Connectivity > Destinations > Internet
My phone came with an Access Point already created called "Internet". If yours does not, you should touch "Access point - Add new acc. pt." instead to create one.
Touch Options > New access point
This will scan for all the available connections, both wireless (your home internet connection) and packet data wireless (your provider's network). Add all the appropriate access points, I have 3:
You need to get them to appear in this order in the list.
Touch your home wireless internet connection (it has the small transmitter icon next to it) and touch Options > Organise > Change Priority.
Then touch the access point currently at the top of the list to move your home wireless connection to the top (priority 1).
Now repeat for each access point until it's in the desired order.
Finally touch Back (so you're looking at the Settings > Connectivity > Destinations page)
Touch Options > Default Connection
Select the Internet Access point (or the name of your access point if named differently).
And that is it, all done. Not hugely user-friendly on Nokia's part, but your phone will now access the internet using the most appropriate and fastest connection available. Do bear in mind that costs may be incurred when accessing the internet via your provider's network depending on the data allowance in your plan.
To be able to check emails using this Access Point navigate to: Messaging > Options > Settings > Email > Mailboxes > *select mailbox* > Connection settings > Incoming/Outgoing e-mail > Access Point in use
Select the Default connection option and touch OK.

hi chickendippers , i have a similar problem and would like to see if you have an idea about it, im not using the Email account in the masseging, im using the Email application which is located at the application, the one that u can display on your home screen, i want to use this one isntead of the one in massaging, when im in home its working fine on my wlan, but when im outside it is not using the 3g newtork, the funny thing is that when i setup it as the email in the massaging section, it worked perfectly although it is the same mail server (im using gmail). any idea? any hint? i already did the defualt connection thing and the perioriy thing but still not able to sych unless im in a wirless cover.
Best regards

Sorry I don't use that email app so am not familiar with it. If you've set up the access group as I describe it should apply for all applications including the email app though.
