I've forgotten the lock code on my 5800, is there anyway I can get it back or change the code?
I would appreciate the help from you, thanks

default code is 12345, but if you set one yourself you would need that or have the phone reset at Nokia Care Point (a hard reset may work, but I'm not sure, so contact Nokia)
Good Luck

Click on this link for hard reset procedure. You will lose all data on your phone and it may not work. The hard reset only resets the lock code for a few older model phones..
The chances are it won't work and if it doesn't work you need to have it reset at your local Nokia Care Point. You will need to bring proof of ownership'purchase with you. The purpose of the lock code is to deter theft and it won't be much of a deterent if it can be user reset easily.

You have a valid point. It is there to deter theft. However, it is there to deter the theft of data. And, if you reset the phone, all the data is wiped out anyway. So, I think it should work. I doubt you have to visit Nokia care center everytime you forget your lock code as I'm sure plenty of people do that. Having said that, I have tried it out first-hand but I will the next time I do a hard reset!!

The hard reset did work on a handful of models including an N80 I used to have but it does not work on any of the phones I am currently using.
You are correct to a certain point. The code is there to deter theft of data but it is also there to deter theft of handset. If you set the phone to lock if sim card changed, the phone can never be used with another sim without the code. Hence, the thief would never be able to sell it on. To have the code resetable by hard reseting would defeat this very important feature.
