How long should a ringtone sound file be?

How many seconds should I make a n95 ringtone so that it loops without any gaps?

Interesting, I don't know. But when I select a long song it continues to play it for quite a while.

I used to have the opening song for Revenge of the sith which is over 5 minutes long and can't remember ever re-starting while ringing.

I think they should be between 20-30 seconds.

I slice all of my ringtones from MP3s and make them 30 seconds long. I think that my calls actually ring for something like 20 seconds though.

Trying calling your phone and timing the length of the rings.

Re: How long should a ringtone sound file be?

It doesn't matter. It'll always ring without gaps (or with fixed duration gaps) regardless of its length. It isn't a PSTN phone that receives a "ring" signal from the exchange every x seconds, it's more akin to a SIP phone that receives a "start ringing" signal and is then left to do what it wants until it is told to stop ringing.

Just remember that your network is going to shunt the call off to voicemail after 15-30 seconds depending on your network's settings.

Looks like anything under 30 seconds will loop, but with a 1 sec gap. The phone tends to ring for about 30 seconds.

Where do you set up how many times it rings before going to voice mail.

Look in your call divert settings, in particular "divert if no answer".

You can set the delay from 5s to 30s in increments of 5s. You can't go above 30s unless you disable the call divert altogether.

Note that not all networks honour the request and have a hard-coded timeout value.

To see if the request was honoured, dial *#61# and you'll be told to what number calls are being diverted if there's no answer and after how long.
