Help! I can't use my 5800 GPS

Keep in mind that I am a female ( I dont get GPS at ALL ), and I have been having a lot of trouble with the GPS.

I just can't figure out how to use it. I have read the FAQ on Nokia's website which tell me NOTHING.

I open the GPS, and it shows my current location. I press Options > Search > Addresses

And I put in the address that I want to go to, and it says not found.

I then put in another address. Not found.

I tried 5 address in 5 different ways and every time it says it isn't found.

I have full reception on my handset and the latest Firmware.

How do I go from one address to another?

Please help :/

Re: Help! I can't use my 5800 GPS

You should give an example of what you type in. For example....in the USA I can type "601 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA." However, if I type in "SF" instead of "San Francisco" or leave out "Street" there are issues.

Also, you can go to your OVI account on your computer and type in the addresses of the most common places you will be going to and from and sync them with your Maps on your 5800. On the computer is easier.

Re: Help! I can't use my 5800 GPS

I'm typing in:

Country/Region: Australia

State: New South Wales

City/Postcode: Blacktown

Street: Alpha Street

Number: (leave blank because there is no number)

Then I press search.

I tried putting 1 in the number field but same result.

Re: Help! I can't use my 5800 GPS

I typed into my ovi.com account on my computer, the following:

Alpha Street, Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia

I found Alpha Park near Westpoint Blacktown Shopping Center between Patrick and Balmoral streets. If that is what you are looking for, I can only recommend as a minor fix to your issue to add a bunch of your favorites on your Ovi online account and sync them to Maps on your 5800.

That is what I did for about a dozen places I go to a lot and it was much easier on my computer and easy to sync.

Re: Help! I can't use my 5800 GPS

Now Ovi.com isn't working, ha ha!

I've downloaded it but am having issues syncing Ovi with my phone. Is there any guides you know of that I can read? cause when I press synchronise, ovi.com doesn't appear.

Unless maybe it's already selected or something.

Re: Help! I can't use my 5800 GPS

Not the Ovi account or store. At www.ovi.com you can create an account to establish an online calendar, contacts, etc. All of which can be sync'd to the phone. I have only used Maps on ovi.com

If you go to ovi.vom you create an account. Click on the MAPS tab at the top. There you can click on FIND PLACES.

Once you establish places online at ovi.com with your computer. You can go to Maps on your phone and click on FAVORITES and at the top you will have the option to SYNCHRONIZE WITH OVI
