I have just replaced my N97 with a new E7 and am very impressed with the improvements. It feels very solid, much improved UI, email client, music player/widget and response times. Some of the new features are great too, like the 'Converstations' and Search Widget.

There appear however to be some glaring ommissions - or have I just not found them yet? There does not seem to be an FM transmitter (to send music etc to the car radio for example), no Convertor (currency, weight, distance etc - strange for a 'business' oriented phone) and the camera does not have a 'close-up' setting or autofocus capability (I used the N97 for copying documents as it was quicker than Fax - with 8MP I was expecting teh results to be even better).

I am hoping that someone can tell me I am wrong on this and tell me where to find them

There is no FM transmitter on the E7, ther is no 'convertor' app (although many available) but yo can use the calculator, and the EDOF Camera cannot focus on things closer than 40cm, as it is fixed focus and can produce good pictures in focus from 40cm to infinity in good light

I also changed from N97 to E7 and love the phone, which works great for me, I had the choice of N8 or E7 and after studying the specs of the two phones  I chose E7 as prefer it's specs! Always better to check the functions you really need are available before you buy ?

I was hoping I was wrong but suspected otherwise. I am not disappointed with the phone by any means - it seems much quicker and more stable (perfect so far). 

Like you I checked out the N8 but decided to wait for the E7 becasue of the specifications. The 12MP camera seemed to be the only advantage but I always carry a 14MP camera with me anyway so even the lack of autofocus on the E7 is not really a problem (strange omission though - would rather not have face detection).

As you said there are plenty of Converters around (Calculator is not really a solution - unless you know all the formulas). The FM Transmitter was handy at times but I did not use it a lot so no big deal really - just again seems a strange omission.

Have you had any email problems?  I seems to miss some emails, most appear on the phone but then I get gaps where they don't - they are on the computer but not the phone. Presumably a setting somewhere but I need to check it out properly first and make it a separate post if I can't sort it out..

Email has worked perfect for me so far, but I only use Hotmail and Ovi mail NO MFE. Also tried Mobile Documents from Beta Labs, which I found quite impressive

Hi, not sure if your human or just getting a nokia pre txt reply any more,... I have seen converter on ovi apps.  Have you found a end call key on the e7 which is external.. well bad when you need to HUNGUP and have to wait ages for a screen to defrost.
