E70 voiptalk question

Hello,
I'm using my E70 making voip calls with voiptalk.org but I can only call numbers with double zero in the country code like 0039 for Italy, if I put + instead of double zero like +39... it doesn't work...
That's a problem because in my mobile all the numbers are saved with + ...
Does anybody know a solution?
Thank you very much in advance...

Re: E70 voiptalk question

its very possible that your VOIP server needs you to dial 00 to make this sort of call...

check with your provider, they will be able to explain it to you

Re: E70 voiptalk question

VoIPtalk is in the UK so you have to dial the 00 to call any number that is not a UK number. At for the +, VoIP does not recognize the +, you have to dial what ever prefix you need to call an international number. For VoIPtalk, the prefix is 00 because your "dialing" from the UK.

Re: E70 voiptalk question

Does the + not get recognised at all with VoIP? seems a little short-sighted if that's the case.

I was thinking that if it was possible to use the + with another service, you could route your calls through a free pbxes.com account, getting it to automatically replace the + with 00 when calling out through voiptalk.

Re: E70 voiptalk question

That's correct, VoIP does not recognize the +, only numbers. I don't know why but I assume it’s either a software limitation or a design flaw.

Re: E70 voiptalk question

I'm using Voiptalk as well and find this a little frustrating since I don't want to change all my numbers to "00" from "+". I've been adding extra numbers in my contact list so I have it both ways but this isn't always practical since you need 2 of each number for the contact which can expand to 8 numbers per contact which my E60 won't handle.

Other Voip providers don't seem to have this limitation/requirement but they also don't work very well (or at all) so I'm sticking with Voiptalk for now.

I was hoping there might be a workaround to automatically append the "00" in front of any internet call automatically but haven't figured out a way to do it yet.

Re: E70 voiptalk question

Well, if you want to add 00 to every call you make on Voiptalk then you could use pbxes.com. It allows you to add your Voiptalk account as a 'Trunk', then you login to pbxes.com with your voip client, then you would tell pbxes that when you dial out you want to dial through voiptalk and you want to add a prefix of '00' to the beginning.

The problem I have is that I want to be able to dial other voiptalk users using their short number as well as dial out.
