E70 Firmware install frozen

Hi all,
I'm upgrading my E70 firmware right now via my PC and Nokia Software updater.

It's currently about 75% done and now appears frozen. Nokia Updater says "updating software, please wait" The screen display on the phone shows "test mode" and none of the buttons are working.

Any ideas?

Should I stop the whole process and try to switch off the phone and restart?

Not much help on the Nokia FAQs, Any help appreciated.

Nokia updater was definately doing nothing, so I stopped it all, pulled the battery out and restarted the phone.

On restart it was in "as out of the box" mode.

After backing up my phone from my PC, all seems to be in order. I've lost all the installations (worldmate, expenses and all that **bleep**), It's no problem as I only used Adobe Reader and Zip manager and they are easy to reinstall.

All appears well (famous last words)and it seems I have the latest firmware version.

Hi!

I have the same problem upgrading my E70. NSU hangs when it has done about 75% of its work. On phone display there is a text "Test mode" and 2 Nokia logos. I've tried upgrading several times with 2 different PC's and the result is the same. When I remove the battery and reboot E70, everything seems to be fine and firmware is upgraded. The only damage done is that 3G-connections don't work any more, only GPRS. This really sucks! Could someone from Nokia comment this?

had the exact same experience with NSU, E70 upgrade today. Just go to settings, phone, network and select dualband.

Thank you very much for the hint above! Funny, I'm pretty sure it was dualband by default when I got the phone, but I'm it was not. Anyway, now I have my 3G-connections back at work again.

I hadn't spotted that my E70 had also lost the 3G service after the firmware upgrade. Well done for spotting it and thanks for the solution.

Glad I came back here for a peek now :-)

Is this apparently partial update a glitch with the recent firmware or an NSU issue? Any Nokia bods got a comment?
