Hi.. thats aweful... I am shocked to see the amount of ppl who are coming up with problems here or on forums... ya, nokia 5800 sets have problems (not all, but a lot many!) . I was lucky to push my case for a replacement, but the new phone had dust particles in display... i smell a rat there!
Anyways - you sure there is no other way out? How much is Nokia asking for LCD?
Another suggestion - see if Nokia dealer in Kuwait can give you global coverage / coverage in asia. Call them up. Else you may have to dish out money from your pocket.
What I also know is that one of my techhie friends got this phone and seeing its cheap quality, sold it off... i think he made a wise decision... I may sell off my phone soon as well, before I get into trouble.. so get this piece repaired and get rid of it asap.....

Hi Pramod,
Yes, Nokia call centre people are of no use at all. Its just that Nokia captured Indian market and hence their name is there, but I have moved to US and in North America, no one cares for nokia at all!!! I have a friend in Japan who told me Nokia is not preferred so much there as well. But the whole point is Nokia provides useless after sales service in India, and they dont care for customers.
I too had problems with Nokia which got resolved only upon notification of legal proceedings. I also told Nokia Care centre that the stylus was getting loose in the case. They never bothered. Guess what - I lost my stylus this weekend and that small thing is hard to get in America!!!
In my opinion, Nokia is capable of making only cheap phones (like Rs 5000 worth) which really do well, but are pathetic when it comes to making smart phones. My next phone is going to be either iPhone or Motorola Droid which are big time hits here!
I would advise you to get rid of the phone while you get a good resale, and go in for something which gives you peace of mind.

Thanks for ur reply gagan i also have the same problem my stylus is also become loose in my case even my mobile is only 1month old. Also the screen vibration is performing irritatingly each time i lock and unlock me screen it gives different kind of vibrations or some time it does not gives any vibration also. Not to say about its camera performance as it gives very poor performance.
Actually first i was thinking to buy n97 after my 5800 as i was very impressed with it's features but now i leave that thought as n97 is also having many build problems and bugs. After this experience i will never buy nokia mobiles and also i will not recomend any one to buy nokia mobiles after this.

Please check your firmware. Press *#0000# and a screen will come up. The version should be v30.0.011. if you have older version do update it. The camera software has been enhanced in this new version. I would advise you to keep night portrait mode and increase contrast by one level each time u turn on the camera (it does not remember your settings so you will have to do this again and again). The pics will be better, but still average to below average
As i said, Nokia does not have the tech to make good phones and are experimenting on people like you and me. Since you got the phone a month ago, you can sell it for Rs 2000 less, and I would advise you to get rid of it (most of my friends did so, including a moderator of a big cellphone support forum - so u can see what experts are doing!!)
Do not buy N97 simply because its not worth the price (it may be better than 5800 in some regard though). Take the 2000 as a loss, you will be better off than getting an ulcer in your stomach by keeping this phone... Wait for Sony xperia X10 to launch in 2-3 months..its android tech and will have great features.

Thanks for ur kind advice Gagan i also feel that i make mistake of buying this phone
I have already updated my mobile to v31 but still according to me it's images quality is not good.
As u say dust particles in display so please check ur mobile it must be because of the gap at right top corner in casing near on/off switch for which i am going in consumer court
This problem is also very widespread as i have take polls on internet i found about 45-50% peoples having this problem and some of them compaining that there mobile is got damaged due to moisture which enters through this gap which is not covered under warranty.
if u make search on google with phrase 'case gap in 5800' u will get more information about this.
I cant understand what nokias quality control is doing how they let such defective mobiles to come in market ot they this we customers are blind enough to see that gap
This was my first Nokia mobile and also it will be the last one from nokia

Hi Pramod
Good decision on never buying Nokia. I agree to your statement that Nokia QC is horrible. Sell Nokia 5800 XpressMusic right now and you will still get good resale. In case you cannot wait for Xperia, get iPhone or Blackberry (HTC G1 is good one- see if this is available in India)
Again, sell your phone. Whenever my H1 gets exteneded (means I would be in US for more time), I will go in for a new one and simply throw this 5800 in a gutter! I won't even try selling this to anyone!!
Take care
Gagan
