Hi all,
Is there really no way to stop getting the default Nokia tune now and then? It is so annoying, there MUST be a fix for this. Any ideas?

No fix - just gotta wait till the next firmware.
Some have said flashing or freeing up memory and resources on the phone helps....

I have about 20 mb free on C: so it should be enough.
Strange that at a high end phone cant have a subtle fix for this.

I don't have this issue with the N97 but I did with the N96. To solve it on the N96 I had to store my current tone on the phones memory not the mass memory.
Does doing that work on the N97?
The tone I use on the N97 is stored in the mass memory and is a 128kbps MP3 files that 45 seconds long. Not had any issues at all using that or other files that i've cut down to use.

I have the tone on the phone memory, does not do the trick.
Weird problem.

Very weird! Seen quite a few with this issue and have been wondering why some get it and some don't.
Good luck sorting it, hope someone finds a solution for you.

The REAL solution is to set the Nokia Tune as your default ring tone!!! lol
Seriously though, I think everyone has tried everything with no luck. Guess it is just one of those things. I seemed to have it more when I actually had AccuWeather, Facebook and some other widgets on my home screen. Now I just have shortcuts to apps and email - and I have not heard the Nokia Tune for a long while.

That makes sense, I don't use those widgets either, never have done.
I just use the ones I need, favourite contacts, calendar, shortcuts x2 and email.

Since updating to v20, Format Mass Menu etc. I know have 56mb free on C:
Everything on E: Mass - text messages, the lot
Now I dont have the Nokia tune bug.
Slide to answer Lock up bug is still there though - Would prefer to keep nokia tune and lose the hang up bug.
This phone is still rubbish - to be fair.
I can do facebook, email, etc. Just have a problem making receiving calls. Might aswell ditch the phone and carry my laptop about
