Can someone please tell me, preferably an Engineer at Nokia, what is the proper way to answer calls when I pull this thing out of my pocket? I want exact steps. Tell me what method you used to test this thing so I can answer calls 100% of the time and not look like a complete idiot fumbling with the slide lock and punching the answer button with no success.

If you PREFER to get the answer from a Nokia Engineer..then this is not the place.. Use the 'Contact Us' tab at the top of this page to put up your query..this being an User-to-User forum..

I hear your pain .... it has happened to me sometimes. And I thought that Nokia has learned from the N97 fiasco. IIRC, there was an option in N97 to disable the lock slider. I'm not sure if there is one in the N8. When I was using the N97, it was bloody annoying having to unslide the slider before answering the phone. I've been in situation where I've forgotten that steps and was pushing the answer call like mad and nothing happened.
The slider for the N8 may sometimes misbehave (i.e. the scrren will not dim when you lock the phone) and when this happens, when you receive a call, the phone will not unlock unless you slide the slider. This has happened to me a couple of times (not often but it happens which is annoying). What has happen more often is that it will ring for 3 seconds and if I take it out from my pocket, the ringing stops (though I know I have not picked up the phone yet) and sometimes this behaviour unsettles me a lot and I'd be fumbling with the phone.
Buggy phone this N8 at the moment.

I have had no such problems. If the phone is locked with the side lock switch, then the lock is temporarily unlocked when a call comes in, you should not need unlock anything.

Update: I have had the phone crash several times in the past month. The good thing is the call issue seems to have resolved itself. I bet the developers don't use fresh images when they debug their software.
