There'sno such thing as a perfect phone.
Both the N97 and N900 have pros and cons. It's down to what the owner wants from the device and how well the handset works when it's available. Time will tell on the N900 and with the N97 2.0 firmware due next month, we will see.

Perhaps sit on it and think for some months. The N97 is a great phone on paper, but at launch it had more than its fare share of problems. Once these are resolved, it will be a great smartphone.
You won't get the N900 yet anyway, so you've some time to choose. The big downsides for some people is that the N900 is an internet tablet (a handheld PC with a Linux-based OS) with added GSM capability - but it can't use 3G for internet/video calling - only for GSM calling, and at present it doesn't support MMS which was a big complaint against the early iPhones. It may have its downsides, but I'm looking forward to it - it will be something fresh and new on the market.
