I agree Belle is a big step backwards.

My findings are as follows:

a) Searching contacts in vertical mode goes back to dated and cumbersome  "ABC..." keyboard, instead of anna's vertical "asdf" keyboard.

b)  No more Voice Dialing !!!! Who was the engineer that overlooked? What was QA department doing? 

c)  6 screens is really misleading.. In anna I can have 5 email widgets on a screen... it will take 2.5 screens in belle to have equal number of emails. ... and music widget in belle itself will take 3/4 of the screen... there goes 3 "extra" screens.

Again No full screen email client... wow! That's a big improvement! 

d) Handy buttons to delete, forward are all gone!

e) Top icons that were clickable for more information in Anna, are job just dumb icons.... (belle is going in reverse 100 mph)

f) No way to create folder within Folder !!! WHY ????????????

g)  I am willing to PAY to go back to ANNA!!!

Oh, that dreadful clock...

I did not experience all of the problems as discussed above. But it took me almost a day to get my N8 phone in order (including the Kaspersky - Belle debacle, but that's another discussion). This leaves me with only a lot of annoying things.

I agree with AUTxRemoteC:

And why is there a ugly grey bar at the bottom of every screen instead of  my theme color?

But what I miss the most is the lack of "customizing" choices. I want my own themes, profiles and I want

the old (Anna) CLOCK BACK!!!!

I love belle.. My phone hasn't been that fast, or easy to use since I got it 17 months ago. Great work by Nokia overall..

sounds like somthing went wrong cause what you mentioned with the apps like live view and all that are available,

and the battery life has inproved alot

Upgraded my E7 to belle recently. Not sure really if I'm impressed or not. From a speed point of view it is far snappier than Anna was which is great! However it's the tweaks to the interface not overly impressed with... As mentioned here the widgets are too big and offer little information. I mean the size of the digital clock? Why? Seems Nokia are taking cues from Android interfaces with swoop down notification panel. etc. Which is OK if we could have still kept the much more useful notification widget. At a glance I could tell who had sent me a message etc with messing around swiping stuff on the interface. This is why I love Nokia devices the interface was always geared around being efficient and practical - a communication tool - rather than battery consuming eye-candy gimmicks. I don't want to keep swiping/prodding/poking to get the info I need when it can be there for me displayed with no extra action needed. This is why I have had a couple of iPhones and sold them both on (returning to Nokia phones) and never bought a Andriod phone (the wife has one not overkeen). Now it seems my lovely Nokia has been "Andriodfied". Anyhow I cannot blame Nokia the market wants iCandy gimmicks over efficiency and practicality they will have to conform to stay in the smartphone business. However I will always remember the great Nokia handsets I have had over the years. Interesting times ahead for the smartphone market.

Never noticed that before but I agree with you on that. What I do when calling someone is pressing the call button and then enter the name, you have only to click on each number once. E.g.. to call "Peter" press 73837 and select the contact ;-) That isn't a new feature BTW ...
I agree with you on the other points too (maybe not "g" )

Yeah, it's awesome if you want a toy but not if you want a working machine. I think most of the people bought E7, N8, E6, ... not because of eye-candy and farting-apps but to have a mobile office with a lot of features to work with. There are of course some good thinks with Belle but nothing that excuses the removed features and widgets.

Unfortunatelly I have to support this opinion. This happens, when company changes the culture. At Nokia from culture of innovator and proactive designer to new quasi-management of profit, marketshare and ...

Anna was better - I managed my E7 (damn expensive and nice design - except terrible nonfocus camera), now culture of Microsoft-like cash generators - the sytem manages me!

I asked authorised service to get Anna back and they were not able. Shame. i am user, not customer to Nokia.

I tried the upgrade, but it was not successful and, now a days, reading these posts, I am thanking it. I will keep Anna as far as possible.

Yes it failed for me first time I tried to "upgrade" to Belle too. Unfortunately I was persistant and it eventually worked. 

Upgraded 4 days ago and I want Anna back. If they'd have just made Anna a bit quicker I would have been more than happy. Too many changes to the front end and not for the better. Seems to have made my E7 screen feel much smaller. Must be even worse for users with smaller screened phones. 

Right time to hunt around to see how to "upgrade" back to Anna again!

So finally, after a long ordeal of bricked N8, I finally managed to *upgrade* to Anna.. Boy what a difference does it make.

N8 with Anna + Nokia screensaver still has better battery life than the same phone N8 with Belle and Six screens and NO Nokia screensaver.

I have 6 Emails in 1 Anna screen. (would need 3 screens just to host 6 emails in Belle)

I have a full screen email client in Anna!! 

Quick need buttons like reply, forward, delete are right where they should be.

Top Icons are clickable !! I can click on battery to check its percent, and go to power savings in one-click !!!

I can hold "Call" button and do Voice commands !!!

I have a tonne of apps in app store !!!!

I can put widgets in offline mode !!!

Boy why am I so excited ! I just went back to Anna !

Because some brains at Belle wanted a dumbed down OS for me? Am I buying a smartphone for a dumbed down OS?

If I needed a cheap Android Knockoff, I wouldn't be paying big bucks for N8.

Anybody listening at Nokia?

Once I am back with Anna, my N8 lasts a day and a half... clearly not a battery issue.

Changing ways of doing things on me without letting me know (way, or no way) is BAD QA! Who was the QA analyst on this project?

I beg to differ with User's opinion that Email widget is far more functional. For once, how do you delete email from email widget? How do you go to full screen mode?

I am about to upghrade, but this fonts are very important for me. I own E7 and the quastion is.. are fonts are same on Belle? it=s the same posiible to make tham bigger?

Yes. There are three font sizes to choose from, same as in your E7.

Basically, the very bad thing with Belle, is that it delete everything, rest could be acceptable if you didn't lost everything after updating...
