Anyone else had problems with the BBC iplayer? It worked fine on the N96 (probably the one thing that did!) but with the N97 all I can do is stream/play, there is not the option to download. I much prefer to download on wi lan and take progs with me to watch when travelling. So far no can do with the 97.

I came here to the discussions for the very same reason.
I got my N97 from Vodafone and it downloaded as well as streamed both video and radio content from the BBC iplayer. I lost that phone and bought a replacement on Ebay. Sadly the replacement will only stream now.
So here's hoping that someone here will help us, however in my recent experience the people who used to have all the answers are no longer here.
Best of luck.

Don't think it's an I-player issue as I can download programmes via my wi-fi without a problem. For the record am on Orange UK, but with an unbranded N97 and the latest software version.

BBC Iplayer web site lists those network providers and the ability or not to download etc .
My telecom provider does not let me download .

As I understand it their are agreements between some phone company's and the BBC .
No agreement then its basic service only .

I Player does not stream to any network bar 3G for 3Uk or Vodaphone .
At the moment BBc iPlayer is principally an internet service hence no problems with wi-fi .
lets say you have 5800 xm then you can
download catch up tv download streaming catch up tv OVER WI FI only .
If your phone service is with 3UK or Vodaphone then you can stream catch up tv over your 3g network also .

the iplayer should be able to stream on o2 as well.
my n96 is on 3g so i do stream on both but the problem here is not streaming but being able to download and store the program. for me i could before do this on either 3g or wifi but now i can t do it on either

I'm on O2, with my N97.
If I open iPlayer with my Wlan connection, I have the choice of streaming or downloading a program. I just downloaded "Guitar heroes at the BBC" to try it. It took about 2 minutes to download.
If I open iPlayer with my 3G connection i cannot either stream or download. I just got a message saying it'sonly available on 3, and some Vodaphone contracts. The message also said they were working with other providers to extend the usage.
