Area Code appears in top left of screen of N73 and 6110 Navigator

I've had the N73 and now i have the 6110 Navigator

They seem to both have this little feature, which i wish could stay in place.

if you come out of something, the phone quickly flashes the area code you are in, then reverts back to showing the bluetooth or lock key status icons, just under the battery icon.

I noticed this on my N73, when i was abroad where it showed the location name, but with my new 6110 Navi it showing the area code (ie 0207).

Is there a way that it can be shown all the time ?

Tools>Settings>Phone>Network>Cell Info Display
This is the path to "cell info display". It shows you in top-right corner the area in which you are. Actually, is showing you the area in which the phone cell is in.

Yes you are right. (By the way I am a Nokia 91-8GB user). It just vanishes in a second or even less. I have observed that this is not always the case. When I am in India I have a continuous Cell Info display, It displays the area name where I am actually moving and when I am abroad like Singapore, Indonesia etc. the display does not stay continuously. I believe this depends on the Network Operators.

Re: Area Code appears in top left of screen of N73 and 6110 Navigator

Hi, i have just come across the answer to this by accident, the way to do this is
(1) go to TOOLS > settings>network > turn on cell info display
(2)go to TOOLS > Settings > Phone > Standby mode > turn of active standby. That should display the name of the place you are in and stay on all the time. But this does not work in the UK for some reason, it worked for me fine in Turkey from 06 June 08 hope this helps

Not too sure you want to turn of active standby. On my Nokia 6110 Navigator, it blanks the screen (ie. the shortcut keys along the top are gone).

I guess people will only find a use for this, if they are lost.

i think this is Service Provider dependent... some operators they keep it there, others it will just flash for a few sec...

hi

this is not network dependent. when Active Standby is on, then the Cell info display will be displayed only for a second. When Active Standby is off, then the Cell info display will be shown all the time. Guess this is the way it works.
Personally, i'd like to have both Cell info display and Active standby
