Why does my AccuWeather widget no longer work...

I ask it to find my current location and i get,

"SCRIPT ALERT: could not get your current location"

and if i ask it for a certain location i get...

"SCRIPT ALERT: There was an error getting the data. Make sure your network connection is enabled and tap OPTIONS> Refresh Data to try again"

My network connection is enabled, click refresh and you get one of them error messages.

This just started randomly happening.

Anyone else got the same problem or knows how to fix it?

Is there maybe a new app on ovi store that might fix this???

I have the same problem.

Accu Weather worked fine for a couple of months and then started to get the same script error prompting me to enable the network etc.

I am still looking for solution and will post here if I am successful

Hi, I believe many people, including myself, have this problem ! If you delete and re-install the app (from Ovi Store) it may work for a while again, but it seems a little unstable and has never been able to find my location !! However there is a newer, more stable version on the N97 mini, which I believe will be available on Ovi Store 'soon'. When that will be I don't know, but personally I'm just going to manage without it for now, and try the new version when I can find it.

This WILL sound a stupid question to some... but not to me.

How do i get that new programme onto my phone?

Do I download it onto my phone from the internet connection? or from my pc via the cable.?

Sorry for a being a techno phobe.

Just plug your phone into your pc and when you download the program it will auto open ovi suite and put it on to your phone.

I have just loaded it onto my N97 but I still get the same script error.

Have had no problems with Accuweather for about 2 weeks now, it has been updating itself well and promptly.

Today at college i made the mistake of forcing an update of the weather and it failed, it would not add a new location, update a static location or update my current location. it was just refusing point blank to update seconds after selecting any of the above. I was checking the current connections and had 2 open but cant tell you what as they where displayed as "2 Packet Data Connections Open" and i decided to close both connections then go back to Accuweather and it worked first time on all settings, it finds my position and loads a static location within seconds.

I think that the problem resides in the n97's ability to share connections, the n97 needs a WAP connection to find its position and Accuweather seems to run on a WAP connection preference, if both of these connections are in use for widget updating or offline mode then Accuweather will be refused a connection and stop trying as aposed to all the other apps that try again and again to connect.

My suggestions would be that if it starts to mess up try holding the end call button down to show connections and close them all, then go straight to Accuweather and update, if it works then yey and if it doesn't then its just me

Hi, not posting this as a solution, but had a wierd experience. Read an article by Steve Lichfield at All About Symbian, on SPB Weather, went to there site and downloaded fre trial, installed it, worked really well, very pleasing to the eye with a lot of annimation and the widget looked really good on homescreen. I was even considering spending the fourteen dollars on the full application, but, after about an hour, the widget dissappeared, tried to add it again but it wasn't in the options, still in apps and still working but no widget ! Anyway had a thought that if I replaced blank widget with something else it may appear in widget list ( maybe because it was 'in use' it didn't appear in widget list) it didn't !

Now the weird thing was, I replaced it with Accuweather, which launched really quickley, and found my location (something it has never achieved before). I added acouple more cities, where I live and where I work , no problems and the bloody thing's been working perfectly ever since !!! Almost as though it was fighting back against SPD Weather, Lol.

I have installed this on my N97 this morning. It found my city (Stoke-on-Trent)  in a matter of seconds, is unbelievably fast, great UI and gives you the options to personalise little things like

Add remove cities (holds upto 10 favorites)

Choose which city to display on the homescreen widget

Adjust how often it checks for updates in the weather forcast

But most of all. This application is completley stable, unlike Accuweather and to my eye is more attractive and far more functional than Accuweather has ever been.

Let me have your thoughts if you try it.

Hi, as I mentioned above, I've already done this, however if you check out the reviews on there website a few people have had problems with 'no widget' . I would advise people to try the free trial first, before paying. It is very impressive, but I, like others have 'lost' the widget. Would suggest if it works perfectly for you for 30 days then it's worth the cost.

I am having the same problem.

However, I do not believe the problem has anything to do with Accu. The problem (in my humble opinion) is the new firmware upgrade.

Nothing works now - not even Facebook on the desktop.

Carmen, did you try loading the weather app from the application folder?

Yes I loaded from appsand now have it as a widget and for some strange reason it's working fine ! For Facebook try removing and then install latest version from Ovi, it's the one from mini and works very well, also would really recommend the new beta 'communities' from Nokia beta labs. Its working really well for me, and I find it to be better than Facebook widget.

Most of your problems will have solutions already posted if you use the search at top of page, stick with the N97, it's a great phone once you've got it set up as you like.

Few days ago my AccuWeather started acting up as well, it wouldn't load or I kept giving script errors or connection errors, all I did was reinstalled it and it work just fine now. And for the facebook app, I pretty much gave up on nokia lol well at least till they realize how much improvement it needs. I use facebook on my opera mini 5, I have both opera 10 and mini 5, I definitely enjoy the speed on the mini 5 and facebook is great on mini 5. Hope they work on the facebook app and make it faster and add chat to it as well. But its ok, I can wait, I'm sticking with my N97.

I can't get AccuWeather to work on my N97 Mini either. And I haven't come across another free weather app/widget that I'm happy with. So I've improvised:

I've set up a widget on my N97m homescreen that links to a webfeed (RSS) from the BBC Weather website. The widget has no graphics, just scrolling text, but you get a quick 3-day forecast from the BBC.

How to set it up? Easy!

1. First set your geographical location on the BBC Weather website using your computer browser. 
2. Then manually copy the RSS URL for that page to the webfeeds folder in the phone's browser.
3. Finally, use the homescreen set-up to create the widget that links to this webfeed. 

Strangely, the BBC doesn't provide an RSS feed for the detailed 24-hour forecast that you see on their website. That would've been useful too. But the three-day forecast is detailed and reliable enough. And the result is totally stable. I rather not have some lousy/unstable app on my phone.

After my silly post earlier Accuweather is working perfectly on my phone, don't know why, unfortunately, but been moving about today on my day off, and using 'my location' and weather changed a few miles away from home ! Strange , but quite pleased.
