Hi Friends

I have formatted my phone.Reinstalled the firmware and  installed sip_voip3.0 settings v1 (yes v1) With v2 it was bouncing me of the menu but this time the menu was available.I did the settings and i saw that my phone was connected.There was a globe sign at standby screen.Everything seemed perfect until i tried my first call.The phone says "net calls enabled" but they are not..I can not call anywhere and also i cant be called.It does not work.Maybe someone may continue and find a solution from here...Just wanted to share with you all suffering from voip issue.

yes this worked for me - I was able to place a SIP Call using 'SIP_VoIP_3_0_Settings_v1_01_en.sis'

The funny thing i was going to try this earlier - but I was too lazy to sign up an account.  The only thing that sucks is there is no way to start or stop the service with the 'internet tel' so once it is running it is running...

Well guess this proves Nokia was lying - should have done this LONG ago.

One note if you have a + at the start of your contacts phone number you might have issues.

I was incorrect - VOIP can be started and stopped under contacts - there will be a new tab created and you can select options to log in or out of voip.  Very Handy indeed.

Yes,you can connect to sip but can you make a call?(i mean can you actually talk with someone) Did you try it?I would be glad if somebody can answer this.

I can make calls but I cannot receive them.

I don't know why Nokia were being so smug about the whole VoIP issue and not telling us we could have enabled VoIP ourselves.

I'm seriously not impressed with the lack of honesty we seem to be getting from Nokia lately.

I'm a happy chappy that SIP is now working for me, but my next handset will definitely not be a Nokia unless they start taking care of their customers.

ok i have worked this problem out too..It was the proxy server thing in sip settings.Without filling it sip connects but you can not make a call..So i guess this ends the sip problem in n97..

VoIP over 3G works if you enable uawmac and awcdma

Once I enble the uawmac and awcdm, I can log in to from the Provider tab in contacts, but when I select the number to call nothing happens.........so it seems like that some other setting might need to be modify as well besides above two to make it work over 3g

Hey

This can be a codec issue. Which Sip provider you're trying to use? Take a look and see if they support G729, if they do, just set it to the first preference at the codecs menu.

See if it works.

ALSO - make sure you are not dialing +1 XXX with the Plus(+) in front - most sip providers have a problem with it for some reason, and well most if not all the numbers on my phone have that + in front.... To test try dialing a local number from the dial pad, then when you call select options then internet call.

I'm using voipcheap.co.uk. I tried the coded setting. Now when I try it, all I get is calling...but it seems to not really call

i tried  (+) + (country code) + (number) to call India. call goes thru just fine when on wifi, but it doesn't when using 3G

Well, maybe your operator is blocking connections to port 5060 (default port for SIP)?

Does it work with another phone on the same operator?
