Good day all, I would like to know if there is any way to get the backlight and the battery charging light to turn off. I leave my phone charging at night but the battery charging light (the light next to the USB jack) is way too bright. I have found no way to turn it off. Also with the phone screensaver on, the screen is still fairly bright also and apart from tunring off the screensaver is there another way to dim the backlight? Thanks!

Hello LuSJK, try the app called Nokia sleeping screen. This may dim the brightness of the homescreen. You can get this from Nokia beta labs. To switch off the led indicator there is a mod.

I've used the sleeping screen but it's just as bright. I used to have a phone that kept the backlight off but the LCD still showed the time... is that possible with the 701?

Go to Themes>ScreenSaver and select Big Clock. Lock your phone which kills the backlight, just leaving the white outlined clock as a screen saver. You can't turn the charging light off.

I did that.. the problem is that the backlight does not turn off... the screen goes black with just the time and date showing, which is fine, but the backlight is still on. In the dark the phone is still fairly bright even with the screen black. The only way to turn the backlight completly off is to remove the any screensaver.

To turn off the breathing light ( It will be on while charging )

Settings > Phone > Notifiation lights > Standby breathing light > On/Off

To reduce brightness

Phone > Display > Brightness. Drag the sider to zero.

Light time out > 5 seconds

Use a dark wall paper
